1st Segment - Introduction to woke culture, its roots, how the church has fallen prey to this unbiblical system of thought.
Introduction: Deception in the Church: deception means “believing a lie to be true”.
1) Can you briefly define for our listeners what the “Woke culture” is?
Jesus Christ warned of deception four times in MATTHEW 24, and I think this includes political, social as well as religious deception.
Woke Culture defines itself as “being conscious of social injustice, discrimination as evidenced by systemic racism and issues surrounding these things and the call to set things right for those who are oppressed by “white privilege”.
It’s closely linked to B.L.M. that vied for justice regarding George Floyd, and others who were reportedly unlawfully abused and gunned down by police officer Derek Chauvin. Woke Culture has the view that the oppressors need to give up what they have to those who they’ve been oppressing.
This was used before in Russia that led to the Bolshevik Revolution, where the “proletariat” – the lower, poor class – was oppressed by the “bourgeoisie” – the upper, richer class, with the idea of redistribution of the wealth.
This objective, outlined in the Communist Manifesto and Saul Alinsky’s (a devout Marxist), Rules for Radicals, best seller among the Left in America describes this same procedure of “taking from the rich and giving to the poor” based solely on who these Marxists themselves define as “rich and poor”.
2) What are the roots of the “Woke Culture” so we can better understand its intent?
Woke Culture is based on Marxist ideologies; in fact some of the leaders of Black Lives Matter, such as Patrisse Cullors (recruited and trained by Eric Mann, former member of the Weather Underground terrorist group) openly admit that they are “trained Marxists”.
The Frankfurt School of Neo-Marxism was invited to America in the 1920’s by Marxist/Humanist John Dewey (“the father of the modern American Education system”) and brought Marxism into the church. This School is also responsible for the introduction of the liberal view of the Bible, denying the fundamental doctrines of Scripture such as the Deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His blood atonement for our sins, and just about all other core beliefs.
There is another form of Marxism called Fabian Marxism or Fabianism. Marxism after the Stalinist form would insist on take-overs by force, at the point of a gun. However Antonio Gramsci, an advisor to Benito Mussolini as well as to Josef Stalin suggested a different approach. Instead of a quick change by force, a gradual, more subtle approach would be used, not with guns but with propaganda, slowly changing the minds of the populace, which would then change the culture and society overall, hence the term Cultural Marxism, which today is encouraging such a gradual, incremental transformation of our American Society.
3) Has the church gone woke?
In order for “Woke culture” to work, there’s the need to create victims, (and in order to have victims, you need victimizers); these victims can be the poor, the underprivileged, people of various ethnicities or of alternate sexual preferences, women and their procreative rights, etc.
And the victimization doesn’t even have to be real – it can be just as effective if it’s only perceived victimization, and again, here is where propaganda as well as the media play their part. If people believe a fiction, then it may as well be real.
And what do we see being promoted in too many churches today?

Tyler Huckabee, senior editor of Relevant magazine endorsing Progressive Christianity, has a distribution of over 40,000 subscriptions, he has called for the church to stop using the term “woke” as an insult; that it’s a proper word to describe real life social injustice and CRT. Both he and this magazine stand in support of the “wokeness”.
David Platt, pastor of McLean Bible Church promotes “Woke Social Justice” theology and has apologized from the pulpit for his “white privilege”. Brannon Howse of Worldview Weekend ministries did an expose of David Platt’s CRT views. Brannon describes the roots of what he’s termed ‘Marxianity’ and has published a book by this name – the blending of Marxism with Christianity and one primary venue of this is Woke Culture.
The Southern Baptist Convention – the largest Protestant denomination in America is experiencing a lot of inner turmoil as major leading proponents are promoting Critical Race Theory (associated with Wokeness) while others are struggling to keep it out of their churches.
Woke culture claims to stand against Systemic Racism, but is there evidence that this is a genuine problem here in America? Larry Elder doesn't believe so, challenged liberal David Rubin to come up with such evidence, and Larry proved otherwise.

2nd Segment - How Woke culture affects us and how we can overcome its influence
Welcome back, our focus is on the “woke culture” and the philosophy it proposes through its tenants such as Social Justice, Black Lives Matter etc... and how it is affecting our Church culture. With us is guest James Joseph Fire
1) James, you mentioned that the philosophical roots behind the “Woke Culture stems from Marxism. Explain how that philosophy is affecting the Christian mindset? (Corrupting minds vs instilling Conformity to Christ).
Change must come from within by the individual conforming willingly, not coercively by enforced law. This is how GOD does it by His Spirit and His work of sanctification so that we become more Christ-like in our thinking, motives, actions as we willingly conform to Christ.
The counterfeit of this is what Woke Culture wants: they want to conform the culture to their way of thinking with Fabianism; to corrupt people’s minds and hearts, including the Christian church from the biblical worldview to a Socialist/ Marxist, and ungodly world view, but our identity as Christians is in Christ, not our ethnicity or political affiliation or social function (COL 3:11; GAL 3:28).
Wokeness is infesting the church by changing minds, and challenging the worldview of Christian truth.
If you look at Humanism, Socialism (euphemistically referred to as Liberalism), Atheism, Progressive ideology, they all have one thing in common: they want to shun the ‘old ways of thinking’ and become what they call ‘free thinkers’: unencumbered by traditional Judeo/Christian ethics and morality, which points back to the Bible, upon which Western Civilization was built.
For example, denying the roles of husbands and wives – which GOD created and approves of – as parental authorities over their own children.
Woke Culture claims to be concerned for its victims like broken families (which is most certainly a serious, and real (not at all contrived) problem rampant in our society!) – but the foundational Marxist/BLM ideology that the nuclear family isn’t necessary, particularly fathers, is a major contribution to this problem. Absent fathers is the leading cause for broken homes.
Wokeness challenges the idea of private ownership (something GOD has ordained). We are not to covet after the properties of others (EXOD 20:17), and certainly not steal from them (EXOD 20:15). Yet through taxation, money is funneled into programs and funds that are absolutely Socialist in nature. It’s a form of legal theft.
Wokeness condemns the guiltless of supposed systemic racism and insists on laying the sins of prior generations at the feet of those living today, even if they’re unaware of their “white privilege”. But GOD holds us all accountable for our own sins, not those of others!
This guilt worthiness of past crimes charged against their descendants causes division and discord, resentment, strife, separating us as a nation – this is contrary to the Gospel mission and the instruction from the Word of GOD.
Wokeness believes human beings are divided into different races: having all evolved separately whereas the Bible plainly declares that we are one race – the human race (ACTS 17:26), with a wide variety of ethnicities, but born from two parents: Adam and Eve. Most people are unaware of Charles Darwin’s full title of his infamous book: Origin of the Species: The Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life. Note that it doesn’t say “Favoured Species” but “Favoured Races”, which promoted the idea that those favored races – or one could say, superior, are or should be preserved through evolution (whether natural or guided). This in turn suggests that the superior races can and should eliminate inferior races or at the least, inferior members in any particular race.
Wokeness believes the sexes are not binary (male and female) but are non-binary: a range of sexual identities – but this of course is nowhere taught in the Scriptures, GOD made us male or female (MATT 19:4).
2) What are the results from churches that support it? - (Many are falling away from the faith because of its belief system/defection from truth).
Churches are then focused on social changes, when they should be engaged in spiritual changes via the Gospel, which alone can change the heart, and thereby can create genuine social change by being salt and light. Christ never commissioned us to save society but souls; His command is to preach the Gospel, promote the culture that is Christ, not Woke Culture, not CRT, not Social Justice, certainly not Marxism.

To suggest that current generations bear the guilt of prior generations is an immoral transference of wrong doing. If my ancestor committed murder, I couldn’t be charged with that crime. If I believed that there was nothing wrong with murder, but never actually committed murder, I couldn’t be charged with any crime – unless we start criminalizing thoughts, in which case we would need “thought police” – an idea born from the democratic Socialist, George Orwell’s novel 1984.

Science knows of only two sets of chromosomes that identify people as either male or female. There are no intermediate forms contained in DNA that can identify a person as anything other than these two sexes. Therefore any such intermediary identification is allocated to the mind and in perception, both of which can be misled and deceived, which is of course the case with all of this transgender nonsense.
This is not to deny that a man could have some feminine qualities or that a woman could have masculine qualities, but in the main, both sexes generally remain within their gender identification naturally. Any transition beyond this is a matter of the will and choice of the individual or that of another forced upon the individual.
If I as an act of my will behave like an elephant, and feel and believe myself to be an elephant, that doesn't make me an elephant, it makes me irrational at best, delusional at worst.

The culture of Christ is outlined throughout Scripture, and there are directives that inform us of GOD’s intention for society, for family, marriage, all aspects of life. For Christians to claim missions and objectives that run contrary to the Scriptures is simply not in accord with the culture of Christ and His kingdom.
Christians looking for salvation of their nation through politics, are led to passion for politics yielding only temporary benefit at best, rather than having passion for the eternal kingdom of GOD that always yields eternal and good fruit.
Changing the message of the church will only redirect professing Christians from an affection of things above to affections for things on the earth – something Scripture warns us about (COL 3:2).
“Bringing heaven to earth” and making our world a utopia is never Christ’s command for the church – that’s a man-made mandate from the anti-biblical, purpose driven partner of Wokeness, the Progressive Church aka Emergent Church Movement. Woke Culture not only can’t save people from eternal damnation – it can’t even promise the utopia they’re offering!
The visible church is even further divided over this issue of wokeness, but what does the Scripture say about divisions and our thinking and objectives?
We as the church need to focus on the culture of Christ as laid out through the Scriptures, rather than woke culture or any culture of this fallen sinful world.
The strength of any national culture is in its communities; the strength of communities is found in families; the strength of families is found in the parents, and the strength of the parents is made most powerful, resolute, and effective when they base their married lives upon the solid Rock foundation that is Christ. Where there are genuine examples of bigotry and ‘racism’, these will be resolved by the Spirit’s work of sanctification in the life of a born again believer as they conform to Christ.
Being Christian then, we must adhere to Biblical doctrine, not Marxist or Woke doctrine. The church is not a social services organization, it’s the body of Christ composed of disciples of Christ who continue in reading, studying, and practicing the Word of GOD, for the benefit of the church, it’s families, the community, and the nation at large.
If the church wants to minister to the needs of people that Woke culture claims to stand for, then we need to get back to biblical Christianity, get back to the Bible, get back to discipleship and sanctification in Christ, and prepare to be ready for our bridegroom’s return!
It's because He has given us all of these things, that in response, the child of GOD wants to give – not 99% of their lives, but 100%. It’s been said before, “Jesus doesn’t want to be number one in our lives on a list of ten; He wants to be number one on a list of one!”
So in sweet surrender, with complete abandon to Jesus, our nail scarred Savior Who loves us so passionately that He willingly died for the sins of the world, we conform to Him, allowing His sanctifying work to create in us the beautiful artistry that only He can do: the beauty and majesty and glory of JESUS in our lives!
To be ready is to have our garments clean and white:
2) James, how do we prepare to be a “ready bride” when Jesus comes (submit to Lordship sanctification/fruit, be “in Christ”- a living sacrifice)?
Upon receiving Christ as LORD and Savior, we are granted righteousness in a positional sense: that is, Christ’s own righteousness is automatically granted to the saved soul, who is now free from condemnation and judgment, and declared a child of GOD. GOD sees them as righteous as Christ in the position they hold.
But there is also a practical righteousness; this is how this righteousness is worked out in the life of a disciple as they conform to Christ and His nature so that their conduct grows in righteousness. This affects their minds (ROM 12:1-2; PHIL 2:5) and lives so that they grow in Christ-likeness in action, word and thought (1 JN 2:6).
Also there is a watchful, prayerful expectation for our bridegroom to arrive for us at any time; those who are vigilant in prayer and in watching are considered wise by our LORD (MT 25:1-10; LK 21:36).
There is also a sense of urgency in our service of the LORD; we are aware that we have only so much time, that we must therefore redeem the time in these evil days that are growing darker (EPH 5:16) and more rebellious against the Law of the LORD (PHIL 2:15).
So, there is also a need to declare GOD’s coming judgment and a call for wayward Christians as well as lost souls to run to the only place of refuge, which is in Christ and the salvation He offers to escape the holy judgment of GOD.
This is what I believe it means to be ready.
3) Offer Encouraging scriptures and words
We as Christians need to determine once and for all who it is that we serve: If the LORD is GOD, then we serve Him; if the State is God (and that’s the objective for Marxism) then serve the State – but be clear, if anyone takes their cues from government policy and State mandates that are clearly in violation of Scripture – this includes Woke Culture, Social Justice Socialism, Marxism rather than hearing and obeying Christ – you’re not a disciple of Jesus Christ, you’re a disciple of Karl Marx. You can’t serve both GOD and some other.
For those who have an allegiance, or today, will make a renewed allegiance to Christ – we have work to do: getting the Gospel out to what could be the last generation before Christ Jesus’ Return, growing in Christ-likeness or sanctification as it’s called, also in being true disciples:
Again, true freedom comes from Christ, and this includes freedom from the enslavement of sin – such as the sin of pride, of prejudice, of oppression, of greed, of covetousness, of laziness – if these things were removed from our society, if people en masse received Christ as LORD and Savior, this would bring “peace on Earth and good will toward men”.

We need to get away from the group-think mentality that is rife in Woke and Cancel Culture and not be conformed to this or any other way of thinking that’s prevalent in the world, and be transformed by the renewing of our minds (ROM 12:1-2)

3rd Segment The true Church, how do we “get ready”
The Bride Of Christ is the true church - she is born of His Spirit. She is separated from the world and is hidden in Him, so she seems invisible to most because His true bride is revealed only to those who are of the same Spirit.
She doesn't see Jesus Christ as a mere ticket to heaven but as her beloved groom whom she loves with all of her heart, mind soul and strength. She accepts and desires Jesus’ covenant relationship. A relationship that requires knowing Him in Spirit and in truth...and surrendering to His ways! She knows she is bridled by his grooming!
There’s a counterfeit Bride that the enemy is raising up,...one who says she knows Jesus but is wooed by the enemy of her soul through the pride of life, the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh...she basically lives by her own religion and what she feels rather than surrendering to the ordinances and statutes of the God who has created her. Her quest is to deceive and influence the true bride with her immorality and unrighteousness.
~The Bride Of Christ: any physical church body is comprised of truly born again Christians in Christ, sanctified by conforming to His image, and then you have your average church-goers who are religious, may bow intellectually to Bible doctrine, but are not children of GOD by rebirth through Christ.
1) Why should we be ready, and what does it mean to “be ready”?
Jesus Christ commanded His church to be ready always; we’re to obey His commands no matter what they are.
When we consider all that Christ endured to save our souls: He took all of our sin upon His very own holy, righteous soul that brought about His death (sin bears the rotten fruit of death). Yet He also suffered the wrath and judgment of GOD that should have been ours.
He then rose from the dead being the Author of Eternal Life and grants to all who believe the Gospel, who receive Him as LORD and Savior the right to become the children of GOD (JN 1:12-13). He indwells and seals us with His Holy Spirit (JN 20:22; 2 COR 1:22) and gives us His peace and joy (JOHN 14:27; ROM 15:13), and His unconditional love (1 JOHN 4:7-8). He has given to us the complete counsel of His Word, from GENESIS to REVELATION. He has placed us in the body of believers, the church and given us such gifts in pastors, teachers, evangelists, elder saints who can disciple us.
3rd Segment The true Church, how do we “get ready”
The Bride Of Christ is the true church - she is born of His Spirit. She is separated from the world and is hidden in Him, so she seems invisible to most because His true bride is revealed only to those who are of the same Spirit.
She doesn't see Jesus Christ as a mere ticket to heaven but as her beloved groom whom she loves with all of her heart, mind soul and strength. She accepts and desires Jesus’ covenant relationship. A relationship that requires knowing Him in Spirit and in truth...and surrendering to His ways! She knows she is bridled by his grooming!
There’s a counterfeit Bride that the enemy is raising up,...one who says she knows Jesus but is wooed by the enemy of her soul through the pride of life, the lust of the eyes and the lust of the flesh...she basically lives by her own religion and what she feels rather than surrendering to the ordinances and statutes of the God who has created her. Her quest is to deceive and influence the true bride with her immorality and unrighteousness.
~The Bride Of Christ: any physical church body is comprised of truly born again Christians in Christ, sanctified by conforming to His image, and then you have your average church-goers who are religious, may bow intellectually to Bible doctrine, but are not children of GOD by rebirth through Christ.

It's because He has given us all of these things, that in response, the child of GOD wants to give – not 99% of their lives, but 100%. It’s been said before, “Jesus doesn’t want to be number one in our lives on a list of ten; He wants to be number one on a list of one!”
So in sweet surrender, with complete abandon to Jesus, our nail scarred Savior Who loves us so passionately that He willingly died for the sins of the world, we conform to Him, allowing His sanctifying work to create in us the beautiful artistry that only He can do: the beauty and majesty and glory of JESUS in our lives!
To be ready is to have our garments clean and white:
REVELATION 19:7
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. 8 And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Righteousness will be the conduct of all citizens of the kingdom of GOD; it’s only suitable then that we conduct ourselves this way in the here and now, ensuring that when we are transitioned en masse from this world to the next, we’ll already be ‘up to speed’ as it were, though once transformed, our righteous conduct will be on the same level as our positional righteousness granted to us by Christ Himself.
Upon receiving Christ as LORD and Savior, we are granted righteousness in a positional sense: that is, Christ’s own righteousness is automatically granted to the saved soul, who is now free from condemnation and judgment, and declared a child of GOD. GOD sees them as righteous as Christ in the position they hold.
But there is also a practical righteousness; this is how this righteousness is worked out in the life of a disciple as they conform to Christ and His nature so that their conduct grows in righteousness. This affects their minds (ROM 12:1-2; PHIL 2:5) and lives so that they grow in Christ-likeness in action, word and thought (1 JN 2:6).
Also there is a watchful, prayerful expectation for our bridegroom to arrive for us at any time; those who are vigilant in prayer and in watching are considered wise by our LORD (MT 25:1-10; LK 21:36).
There is also a sense of urgency in our service of the LORD; we are aware that we have only so much time, that we must therefore redeem the time in these evil days that are growing darker (EPH 5:16) and more rebellious against the Law of the LORD (PHIL 2:15).
So, there is also a need to declare GOD’s coming judgment and a call for wayward Christians as well as lost souls to run to the only place of refuge, which is in Christ and the salvation He offers to escape the holy judgment of GOD.
This is what I believe it means to be ready.
3) Offer Encouraging scriptures and words
We as Christians need to determine once and for all who it is that we serve: If the LORD is GOD, then we serve Him; if the State is God (and that’s the objective for Marxism) then serve the State – but be clear, if anyone takes their cues from government policy and State mandates that are clearly in violation of Scripture – this includes Woke Culture, Social Justice Socialism, Marxism rather than hearing and obeying Christ – you’re not a disciple of Jesus Christ, you’re a disciple of Karl Marx. You can’t serve both GOD and some other.
For those who have an allegiance, or today, will make a renewed allegiance to Christ – we have work to do: getting the Gospel out to what could be the last generation before Christ Jesus’ Return, growing in Christ-likeness or sanctification as it’s called, also in being true disciples:
JOHN 8:31True freedom comes through Christ and His Word, not the man-made doctrines of Marxism, Woke Culture, etc.
…"If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
JOHN 13:34-35You can’t legislate love; love is volitional and voluntary and requires the active will of the heart. All of these social changes by means of cultural Marxism will only bring about a Marxist State, and no one who lived under such a regime was ever fulfilled because GOD has given us the inalienable right of freedom.
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.
Again, true freedom comes from Christ, and this includes freedom from the enslavement of sin – such as the sin of pride, of prejudice, of oppression, of greed, of covetousness, of laziness – if these things were removed from our society, if people en masse received Christ as LORD and Savior, this would bring “peace on Earth and good will toward men”.
