God is the sole Creator of all that has been created (barah in the Hebrew, 'to fashion out of nothing'); He is the only One capable of doing so, and by this authority He is also Self-designated as LORD.  He is LORD because He rules and reigns from the domain of heaven over all of His creation.

Scripture plainly declares that God is love (1 JOHN 4:8) and it's because of His heart of love that He gave us salvation through the LORD Jesus Christ (JOHN 3:16-17); however to focus too narrowly on this primary attribute of God to the neglect of His other primary attribute is dangerous!
