EXODUS 27 & 28 – SERVING GOD HIS WAY – by Sonny Islas; Video was not available this time.

Regarding the Tabernacle (The Tent of Worship, where God graciously condescends to dwell with sinners) and everything that happens there, we can clearly see that God is detailed when it comes to how He wants us to serve Him. What many people fail to understand is that God has clearly prescribed in Scripture both in the OT and in the NT - exactly how He wants to be worshipped/served/obeyed/loved.

In Exodus 25:40 God tells Moses,
“And see to it - that you make them according to the pattern which was shown you on the mountain.” In other words, God’s saying “do it My way Moses – period.” Jesus says the same thing in Matthew 28:20 – The Great Commission – “teaching them to observe (keep, do, perform, obey) all things that I have commanded you…”
People who ignorantly and arrogantly say that they can serve God their own way is the equivalent of offering a turtle on the altar instead of a lamb or a bull as God has commanded. Or like taking the LORD’s Supper with Dr. Pepper and Skittles instead of bread and wine (or something similar). As we’ll eventually see, Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu were killed/burned alive by God, just because they did worship/serve God their own way (Lev. 10:1,2). And in the end, ALL the Nadabs’ and Abihus’s of our world will eventually become toast!

God has clearly prescribed in His Word/The Bible exactly how He wants to be served in every area of life both inwardly and outwardly, whether its faith, praying, marriage, divorce, sex, parenting, work, worship, civil duties, preaching, and everything else to do with the local church. The point of it all is this: God is God, and we are not. God knows best and we just don’t. KNOWING, LOVING AND DOING the perfect will of God is the ultimate thing, and it can only be found where it has been revealed - in God’s Holy Word – for Moses, it was “on the Mountain”.

Last Wednesday pastor Albert taught Exodus Chapters 25 and 26 regarding The Ark of the Covenant, The Table for the Showbread, The Gold Lampstand, and the Tabernacle. At times it’s difficult to picture or even try and imagine what these things must have looked like, so I went ahead and made some slides to help with that. Visuals will be really helpful here.

Today, scholars estimate that it would cost approximately 100 million dollars to build this same Tabernacle – due to all the gold; The Tabernacle was about the size of a modern single wide mobile home).

Today I will be covering Exodus 27 and 28 which consist of - The Altar of Burnt Offering, The Court of the Tabernacle, The Care of the Lampstand, and the Garments (clothing) for the Priesthood. I have some slides prepared for these too.

Note: It is not my intention to demean or offend Roman Catholics in this or any other article on TTUF. I was once a Roman Catholic myself and much of my extended family still is. I love them all. What this article is about is ascertaining the facts as history and current events have revealed them, and to search the Scriptures, GOD’s Word, to determine truth.

We at TTUF have already treated the religion of Roman Catholicism in a four part series the ROMAN CATHOLIC Church: It's Dogma and Destiny (the latter two articles of that series is essentially what we have here, but this two-part article will have updated information and pertinent revisions), revealing by Scripture that much of their practices and doctrines are unbiblical. In examining this religion I realized that there was too much information to cover in that series.
This article is not an apologetic, but a review of the Roman Catholic Church in light of its past, its current course in our present time and where it’s heading in the future.
We’ll cover a little of the history of this religious institution, some of its beliefs and practices and how it relates to other religions as a leading force in our world today in ecumenical circles and what the Emergent Church has to do with it.

We continue now with a summary treatment of this book, gleaning only some of the gems of wisdom concerning matters of spiritual warfare as given by Dr. Greg Reid.

ORIGINS – PART 1

While the existence of Satan and demons is disparaged today, especially among apostate seminaries and pastors, the reality of these nefarious beings is incontestably affirmed in Scripture, both in Old and New Testament passages along with two other prominent passages referring to Satan: EZEK 28:12-19 and ISAIAH 14:12-15.

Note from James:

Even agnostic scientists are conceding the plausibility of highly intelligent extra-terrestrial and alien beings of non-corporeal existence (essentially beings of pure mind, and bodiless). This is an apt description of angels, both holy and unholy.

EZEKIEL 28:12-19
12 "Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty. 13 You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The MILLENNIUM: REIGN of the MESSIAH - Part Five: Continuing the New Testament Examination

While there are more subtle references to the Millennium and related events recorded in New Testament Scripture, being of a more obscure nature, I decided that I’ll address these verses I have included here.

What we have seen thus far, in most respects are clear and insightful declarations of truth that incontrovertibly indicate that the kingdom of Israel, with a ruling king, governing over the nations is a plan that GOD intends on fulfilling.

Israel was not ultimately rejected (though for a time they were: see HOS 1:9-10; 2:23; ROM 11:17-23) but given a sort of ‘time out’ and are blinded generally speaking concerning the Gospel of Jesus Christ, their Messiah – while we Gentiles are given the opportunity to receive salvation, known in the Scripture as the fulness of the Gentiles (ROM 11:25), and once the church is completed (“fulness”) then GOD will turn all of His attention back to Israel and at the conclusion of His chastening (Daniel’s 70th week), “all Israel shall be saved” (ROM 11:26) when the king of Israel returns, who will then establish His reign for 1,000 years:

This covenant with Israel, established with Abraham in GENESIS Chapter 15 is an unconditional covenant that depends solely on GOD’s faithfulness, not Abraham’s – or Israel’s, and it’s fulfillment as far as GOD is concerned, is ‘a sure thing’!

ROMANS 11:27-33

 27 For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins. 28 Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. 30 For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, 31 even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. 32 For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all. 33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

EXODUS 25 & 26: “GOD’S DWELLING PLACE WILL BE WITH MEN” – by Albert Lopez, Facebook video.

INTRODUCTION: When we left chapter 24, Moses was busy being a courier or messenger; going back and forth between God and the Israelites (God’s people). We read in the last verse that Moses remained on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights. This is a long time! This is not like when someone says I’m going to go run an errand and be back in a few hours. Or when someone goes on vacation and comes back a week or two later. The people were probably starting to wonder many things like pastor James said the last time; like he may had been killed by God; or maybe he ditched them after all they hadn’t been too nice to him. Meanwhile God and Moses are fellowshipping, and Moses is getting direction for the people.

These chapters contain instructions for the Tabernacle and the furniture that would be in it and the clothes they would make for the priests. The attention given to the details shows how catastrophic the worship of the golden calf was (EXOD 32) when compared to the instructions of true worship. It is ironic that God had instructed them how the people should worship Him, and yet they did it the way they wanted.

It is no different today with the world and sadly also in the church. The world knows no better, but we were given instructions by God’s Holy Word and His Holy Spirit yet we decide to worship the true God our own way, on our own terms. Let us ask for grace and a hunger for Him, church. It may be that whatever difficulties or obstacles are in our way, God wants to use them so that we may go hard after Him, to seek Him diligently and wholeheartedly!

Jesus told the Samaritan woman:

JOHN 4:23-24

When the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

INTRODUCTION: What we saw in the Ten Commandments in EXODUS 20 is the template, the outline, the framework of the entire Law of GOD. What we see in subsequent chapters are in many parts, an expansion of those ten laws with greater detail.
Then there are other aspects of the Law that deals with the various feasts and ceremonial holy days, which we will get into. Also the plans delivered by GOD to Moses for the tabernacle, which is a worthy study all on its own!

ARE YOU HOLY or HOLEY?

In HEBREWS 12:14 it says,

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:

We want to see the LORD don’t we? So we must pursue holiness.

I believe that those who have trusted in Christ, are born again, who have Christ’s righteousness transferred to them have that position of holiness placed upon them; so as the Father looks down upon us, He sees the righteousness, the holiness of Christ upon us.

And it’s those who have these blessings upon them that will seek after practical holiness – that is, growing in daily experiences of transformation from carnality and sin to spiritual maturity and holiness. They become more on the outside what they are inside!

Throughout my life as a Christian, I’ve had the recurring question come up periodically: What does it mean to be holy - and what is holiness? 

The stock answer and a valid one to be sure is “purity from all sin and evil.” As I thought about that I came to the realization that:

Holiness is an absolute purity or completeness in all of the godly virtues as well as an absolute purity or completeness from all sin and evil. 

If one looks at Jesus, GOD incarnate – that is GOD made flesh (a human being) there is your supreme example of holiness in heart, in nature, in word, and in deed. He is absolutely the fullness of all that is holy – the completeness of love incarnate, truth incarnate, as well as grace, peace, joy, justice, mercy, compassion, knowledge, and wisdom incarnate and all else that is good, including goodness incarnate! You could say that holiness is ‘spiritual wholesomeness’, completeness, with nothing good lacking at all.

INTRODUCTION: We continue now with examining some finer points of the law in these next few chapters, and we see that GOD is watching over every aspect of Israel’s society, how He wants things to be done.
This is how it is for a believer in Christ; living for GOD is of course not only for Sunday church meetings and deals only with our ministry during such assembling for services, but it encompasses our entire lives.

We’ll be seeing a lot of laws where if they are broken, the penalty is death. Critics point to such passes to prove that GOD is blood-thirsty and cruel.
Yet the LORD is making a point: He is GOD, the Creator of all things, thus all things are owned by Him, which means He is LORD: He gets to make the rules! And being GOD, He is worthy of obedience. Only a rebellious, sinful heart would despise obedience to the LORD. And GOD is making another point: that we should take obedience seriously, for disobedience is rebellion and sin and such bear the wages of death, because GOD is holy and cannot associate with sin. Therefore, any soul that sins, is separated from GOD (which is why we all die, because all have sinned, and are separated from the only source of life!).

GOD is also all about private ownership (a concept that Socialists and Communists despise) and commands that justice is carried out on any that steal, kill and, or destroy – such citizens of this fallen world are apt to do, following the example of “the god of this world” who is himself the master thief (JOHN 10:10).

As Christians we are called to be salt and light in this dark world. Our lives, our witness, our testimony ought to be drawing other's to Christ. The bible is clear that we are not to be deceived by the vain philosophies of men. We are not called to join forces with this world.  We are not to compromise the truth of God's Word.  We are not led by emotional feelings, or popular vote. We are to follow Jesus, walk by faith, put on truth, Biblical Truth, and stand on every word of its solid foundation!  

As we experience the fulfillment of end time Bible prophecy, we will witness society  disintegrating into violence and immorality.  The explosion of immorality can be compared to the evil that existed in the days of Noah. That's where we are today.  We are witnessing the very signs that herald the soon return of Jesus!

Jan Markell puts what is happening into perspective, “The world is not falling to pieces, rather the pieces are all falling into place.”  Very well said!

Christian, there is hope. God has promise to never leave us or forsake us. As the pieces fall into place, the Bride of Christ will soon be taken to her Bridegroom! Those of us who are believers must continue to serve the Lord in this world as salt and light, standing on the authority of His Word, and refusing to give into the demands of a pagan society no matter the cost!

Introduction: We're continuing to glean precious wisdom from the pages of Greg Reid's book and adding a few comments of our own, with links and information here and there. Let us continue examining these biblical strategies:

There isn’t a sane soldier on the planet who would even think about entering the field of battle without his munitions. Well behind enemy lines or securely in a home base, he can find enough security to lay these things aside.
Yet when we consider that this entire world is “the field” in the LORD’s parables (MATT 13:38), and that we should look at it as a battle-field (and the LORD Himself as our only refuge), because Satan is the ruler of this present world system and his ideologies as well as his dominion is entirely at odds with those of the LORD, we really can’t afford to think otherwise.
We’ve read stories where a king is leading his armies to war, and before arriving, they would sometimes need to camp because they are that far from the battle. Still, as a precautionary, they would sleep in their armor! We likewise need to wear our armor, and…

INTRODUCTION: When God gave the 10 commandments, He didn’t expect Israel to keep the law; He wanted Israel to turn to Him because they would not be able to uphold the law on their own strength and with a sinful heart they would not want to.
The theme of dependency on the Lord has been shown time and time again with the Israelites, seeing that God had taken them through situations beyond human capabilities so in those situations God would show Himself mighty and the people would marvel and understand that He is God and they were not.

EXODUS 20: “THE TEN COMMANDMENTS” – by Sonny Islas, YouTube video.

INTRODUCTION: Mount Sinai is a pivotal point for the Nation of Israel because it’s here that Creator GOD - YAHWEH, is going to introduce Himself as Israel’s official King. Seeing that mountains represent kingdoms in the Bible, Mount Sinai served as a visible throne where God was and revealed Himself audibly and gave His governing laws – The Ten Commandments. This is a Theocracy where God Himself rules the people. Having God as your king is a blessing! And Israel is about to receive this blessing, but they don’t realize it, even though Moses does!

By the way, the Israelites were very familiar with Kings making laws for their people to keep. I.e. An ancient Babylonian King named Hammurabi was around near the time of Abraham. He created what is known to be the Hammurabi Code of Laws (282 rules). These laws were engraved on a black stone pillar in the shape of a finger – The Decalogue was engraved on two stone tablets by the finger of God (EXOD 31:18). King Hammurabi’s stone pillar and laws were similar to yet inferior to The Ten Commandments.
