The title of Messiah as expressed in the Scriptures is a title of Kingship; it certainly stands to reason that if one is a King, then there must be a corresponding kingdom over which they rule. It's an interesting point of fact that the very word 'kingdom' is a contraction of the 'king's domain'.
The LORD Jesus, when in the presence of others, heard them speak of the Messiah, and His response was that He Himself claimed to be the One! See JOHN 4:25-26; MATT. 16:15-16. The apostles looked to Jesus the Messiah to restore the Kingdom of Israel (ACTS 1:6), and His response was that the Father was keeping the time of that blessed event Himself.
Every where in the Old Testament canon, it speaks of the kingdom of Israel with prophetic authority as well as passages that ascribe the Messiah as the One worthy of ruling such. We shall endeavor to examine many of these passages and discover what this kingdom will entail.
