This section will cover Identifying the Scenario – what conditions are present in this world at large as well as the situations that make the victim easy prey for the abductors.
In this section we will address the circumstances and environment, as well as the predisposition of the abducted that makes them vulnerable to traffickers.
This section will share the ‘prerequisites’ that prepare the trafficked victims for abduction. Absent these prerequisites, souls are less susceptible to being trafficked. So in this sense, these are preventative measures that parents and caregivers should be aware of and implemented so that the young souls in their charge can be protected from lures that are used by abductors.
Then there are the illegal immigrants. And the homeless. Those suffering addiction. The lonely, isolated homemaker. All of these are vulnerable; they are all in need, and in the severity of their need, they are more desperate and willing to trust someone that, barring those needs, would be far less likely to trust. Yet due to their circumstances, traffickers find these sort as ‘easy prey’.
Getting back to the youth: as previously stated, a great number of young people who are abducted are runaways. And who are the runaways?
Before we get into details on ‘the evilness of environment’ I want to reiterate something I alluded to previously.
Consider the term “GOD fearing”.
To be GOD fearing is quite plainly having the highest respect, reverence, and regard for the LORD and His Law and obeying Him. It’s the greatest inhibiter for souls to refrain from sin and sinful behavior (PSA 119:11).
The further away from being a GOD fearing person – or a nation – the bolder and easier partaking of sin will be. And once one allows sin to enter in, the harder one’s conscience will become, and the more willing one will be to delve deeper into darker sins.
Having said that, let me say this as well: just one word:
Porn. If porn was a marginal thing, then child trafficking wouldn’t be nearly as bad as it’s been for the last couple of decades. Sin if left unchecked begets darker sin; that’s a spiritual principle (it’s the same idea as a drug addict who has to turn to a more powerful drug (or a more concentrated form of the same drug) in order to match that initial high)!
Now let’s get into some details on the conditions and situations that can lead to children and teens becoming potential victims of child trafficking:
The Runaways: Mostly teens and pre-teens who for one reason or another are dissatisfied with “life at home”. These have certain restrictions placed upon them by their guardians that the young person resists and decide to leave home. Others escape from circumstances and situations that make home life not just unattractive, but truly intolerable.
I’m referring to physical or sexual abuse, neglect or simply not having loving and supportive parents who apparently aren’t concerned whether their children live or die (in such a culture as ours that’s increasing in self-absorbed and selfish lifestyles at an exponential rate, this is not by any means a stretch of the imagination).
Then there are those children who are trafficked not by strangers, but by family members (their own parents, uncles, older cousins, etc.) or others who are well known, trusted, and loved by such young adults: a close friend, a mentor, a favorite teacher or professor, a roommate.
Whatever the case, it’s vital that any would be victim not take any hand out for help for granted, but be careful who they choose to help them. Trust only the trustworthy (that is, those who have proven themselves worthy of such)!
Let’s address the teens in a family whose parents are dedicated to Christ.
Five points for parents first, then five points for their children – cultivate these things into family life and the likelihood of children being trafficked will be reduced significantly.
Parents. It’s imperative first and foremost that you:
1) Provide a loving, nurturing environment that’s Christ-centered, and where the child or teen is made to understand that any restrictions placed upon them are for their safety from a world that would prey upon them.
There is a fine line between providing ample caution and warning for the child and instilling in them a paranoia and phobic mentality of this world. Pray for a balanced and wise approach.
A viewing of the film SOUND of FREEDOM* either in theaters or on disc (available sometime Sept. '23), with the advisement that such abduction scenarios aren't as common as "home grown trafficking" could be something to consider.

2) Praying for your child is absolutely crucial; that the LORD will grant them a heart to understand the love of the parent who has their best interest at heart and that they will submit to the parent’s guidelines and directives. A child prayed for is a child under GOD’s protection!
3) Monitoring your child’s associations with friends and online activity is NOT disrespecting their privacy; it’s being a conscientious parent whose desire is not to meddle, but to protect. Failure to do so might mean that they are interacting with traffickers who are posing as an ally.
If a parent can explain to their young person why they want to monitor their activities, and ask permission, this could go a long way. But if refused, parental authority must be exercised nonetheless.
Quite often the trafficker will side with the teen against their parents, agreeing that the parents are overbearing, unfair, tyrannical even or unfit to be parents. By this means, they create an alliance with the young person, and opens up an opportunity for the young person to trust the trafficker.
4) The “my way or the highway” mentality might have been safer for the welfare of children in generations gone by, but in today’s predatorial world, throwing a rebellious teen out of your house means depriving them of necessary protection from recruiters who will snag them up at the bus stops or stations, city parks, rescue mission facilities, etc.
Parents should make every effort to work with their young person and get them to understand that it should be “YAHWEH or no way”. They should reconcile but without compromising the direct and clear counsel of Scripture. Longsuffering, patience, consistent and persistent unconditional love has to be in evidence.
If the situation is unreconcilable, then parents ought to provide information for their child (such as that provided in these articles) regarding traffickers and what to look for and avoid them. Encouraging them to live for a time with a relative who is willing to take them on for the short term might be advisable. This provides time away to diffuse a tense situation. GOD has raised up mentors who can be spiritual mentors to young people: fathers, mothers, even a grandparent type of role, such as “Miss Linda”. I myself am a spiritual father of the faith to five young men and am BLESSED to be so!
5) Young people that are determined to express their “self-identity” and or are seeking for a transgender experience is something happening with greater frequency with no small amount of encouragement in social media that claims that “millions of people are waking up to understand that they aren’t what their bodies are” and is even supported by our own government!
This is a hot topic, highly controversial, and might prompt parents to come down hard on their child and enforce the truth.
The truth must be given, and materials that show the fallacies of transgenderism, but presented in a gentle, compassionate manner, supported with prayer and loving affirmation.
Teenagers and pre-teens it’s most important for you to:

A form of “street smarts” is necessary if one decides to “go it alone” apart from one’s parental protection if you find the ‘house rules’ intolerable. Parents should make sure you’re educated regarding the dangers of today’s world of human trafficking, but you can also educate yourself and realize “what’s out there”. Perhaps you could watch SOUND Of FREEDOM together and discuss it! That being said…
2) If you are the child of a Christian, biblically based home, then you need to understand that just as you are expected to submit to parental authority out of obedience to the Word of GOD and are accountable to the LORD for such submission, your parents are likewise expected to raise you in the love of GOD, and accountable to teach you godly principles of life that will lead you to a fruitful life.
3) Life can be seen as “unfair” at times – even to adults. Sometimes it only seems that way; other times it actually is.
In either case, there is a Perfect Judge (GOD Himself) you can appeal to in dealing with an unjust, unfair situation you may be facing. Understand however, that He may render a judgment not to your personal liking, but as He is all-knowing and all-wise (AND all-loving), it’s a smart move to submit to His decisions.
4) Family life is hardly any more ideal and perfect than the human beings that make them up – parents are no different. You can pray that your parents will hear you out, consider alternatives in their dealings with you, and that the LORD will reveal any potential wrongdoing on their part. To bail and remove yourself from parental protection and seek out independence before you’re ready and able for such, makes you a huge target for traffickers who are more than willing to provide for you – in order to entrap and use you, and bring you into literal slavery. America is the leading consumer and provider for child trafficking and for your own safety you need to understand this!
5) If you are in an abusive home – physical, mental, verbal abuse – even sexual abuse, or living with parents that are alcoholics or drug abusers – you don’t have to face this situation alone by fleeing and disappearing into the community as a runaway. There are resources available but be aware that Child Protective Services (CPS) are overrun with connections to traffickers (they find a lot of young “merch” there that they can snatch up and enslave; see SECTION Two of this series or just click this link to go directly to the article linked in the section mentioned). Doing a Google search and praying to be led to a beneficial help service is advised.
Going to a biblical church and talking to their pastors or elders would probably be of some significant help.

Discrimination due to bigotry is a sin as well, but it’s this sort of attitude that lends aid to traffickers who are able to lure immigrants who can’t find work into their traps.
Unbridled lust, adultery, fornication are all sinful attitudes and activities that are enflamed in a society without boundaries, where not even the Supreme Court can come up with a proper definition of morality! As already mentioned Internet porn has lit the fuse on this bomb in our society that has gone godless for some generations now, and we are living in the wreckage of its explosion!
The very degenerate nature of sinful humanity where pleasure is derived from preying upon the weaker, the defenseless, the vulnerable and causing them pain and misery by the powerful – a kind of euphoria that predators find exhilarating.
This last facet of the evilness of environment is very much the heart and soul of Satan himself, the most powerful creature GOD had ever made, who in his rebellion and wickedness finds all sort of diabolical ways to harm and humiliate humanity.
Were we a godly nation, these factors would probably not be absent, but they would certainly be abolished on principle and enforced by a people whose GOD is the LORD and make every endeavor to seek for the liberties and prosperities of those that they serve.
As one exams the central core of this issue of human trafficking, as far as the predators are concerned, it’s all about power and pleasure. The power of acquired wealth in selling “merch” mercilessly and power in oppressing the weak. That is just about as satanic as anything you’d find being conducted in any coven’s ritual.
It’s this environment that must be addressed: the wicked heart of man. No amount of legislation will cure it because you can’t legislate morality and expect people to comply. Prohibition of alcohol in the ‘20’s and ‘30’a proved that. If statistics are reliable, then these would seem to indicate that more alcohol was consumed at that time than at any other contemporaneously.
Reforming and amending behavior isn’t the answer. The answer lies in transformation.
People may go to church and find some resolve in redeveloping their moral compass, but they are ill-equipped when all they have to work with is their own human (flawed, fallen) nature (JER 17:9; MATT 15:18-20).
As trite and cliqued as this may sound, the only viable solution is the Gospel of Jesus Christ which alone can turn human devils into holy disciples. This is an historic opportunity for the church to address this ‘spiritual gangrene’ with the sort of spiritual antibiotic that can cure it – one soul at a time.
