Teaching #4 – Demonic Influences on Sinners and Saints
Are demons a part of our ultra-modern, technologically sophisticated world? Isn’t such a belief rather medieval?
Well instead of thinking of a bunch of pesky red suited gremlins with pitchforks and pointed tails, how about some non-corporeal hyper intelligent entities composed of pure mind?
There are those that believe fallen angels and demons or unclean spirits are synonyms, just different names to describe the same sort of beings.
Others believe that demons and fallen angels are related, but different. I tend to agree with the latter.
The union between fallen angels and human females produced giants or nephilim (“fallen ones”) and they all died at the Flood Judgment. Since they are neither fully angelic nor are they fully human (they weren’t at all intended by the Creator to exist, being a sort of hellish hybrid), they were not consigned to hades or the abyss.
Their spirits were doomed to roam the Earth, disembodied, unable to satiate their fleshly desires as they once could when they possessed bodies thousands of years ago.
This makes sense then, why demons crave possession of bodies (either animal or human, preferably the latter) and are extremely reluctant to leave their hosts.
Since these creatures are wholly vile, taking after their evil angel patronage, they despise humanity and Christians most especially. With these insights, we can understand why they are so motivated to indwell people, and why they vehemently come against Christians.

Kurt Koch wrote a few excellent books ondemonology.
Demons are used to influence people and direct them to do the bidding of the ruler of this present age (Satan; 2 COR 4:4), they inhabit people and use them as channels to display their powers in an effort to sidetrack souls from the truth (ACTS 16:17), to snare and enslave them (2 TIM 2:26). They offer occult powers as an attraction that acts as a kind of human fly strip. And they take perverse pleasure in causing human suffering.
A very accurate cinematic representation of all this is the film NEFARIOUS (check out the TTUF articles at this link).
One powerful means of demon possession is through the use of hallucinogenic or psychedelic drugs (the word in the Greek for witchcraft used in GAL 5:20; is pharmakeia, the word we use for pharmaceuticals.
Witches in Medieval days used belladonna, a powerful hallucinogen that shifts the mind to an altered state of consciousness, conducive for these evil spirits moving in and taking over.
Another means of demon possession is in various forms of meditation – transcendental, contemplative, kundalini yoga and other forms; these prove to be even more powerful than drugs as gateways for demons.
Obviously as has been mentioned before, any participation in occult activities and, or disciplines, particularly the Ouija board is one of the most powerful means of demon possession.
Scriptures make a distinction between demon possession and physical sicknesses (though demons can cause sickness) and cerebral issues:
MATTHEW 4:24
Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them.
Demonic influence may be passed down from generation to generation; these are known as familiar spirits. Transference most often occurs upon the decease of the occult practitioner or when they suffer significant trauma that renders their bodies as nonviable for the demons use.
Charged objects – those material objects, be they charms, amulets, bracelets, books, statues, icons, etc., can operate as a gateway that will allow demonic influences in a household. I have a cousin who had strange things going on in her house, and it was determined she had a Ouija board (a gift that she never used) in the house. When removed and the house was prayed over, the activities stopped.
Those possessed of a demonic spirit may manifest in many different ways: affecting their environment with sudden, sharp changes in temperature, a heaviness or electrified sensation, terrible odors; objects may appear to move by themselves, manifestation of shadows or glowing orbs. The afflicted may speak in languages they never learned, be aware of events and information they would not be able to know normally (the act of divining and clairvoyance). They may be able to exert influence over others and exhibit supernatural strength.
Ritual cleansing, the burning of sage, blessing the house or person with various oils and holy water; employing the use of psychic healers or paranormal investigators are all spurious and ineffective at getting rid of demons.
Only the Almighty Name of Jesus Christ, wielded by children of GOD is the most effective way at freeing people of such tormenting spirits (ACTS 16:18), and more often than not, those who don’t know the LORD Jesus personally will fail at casting out demons, even when they invoke His Holy Name (ACTS 19:13-17).
Because of the fact that we are bought with a price (1 COR 6:20) – the very blood of Jesus Christ, we belong to GOD; His Spirit indwells us (1 COR 3:16), seals us (2 COR 1:22) and sanctifies us (ROM 15:16). For these reasons I don’t believe a born again Christian can be possessed (or some prefer the term demonized) in their inner most being, which is the “new heart” (where the Spirit of GOD abides).
I do however believe that a genuine Christian can be heavily influenced in their mind/soul and, or their bodies to the point where a demonic spirit can gain a stronghold. This is only possible (not necessarily a given) when a Christian is given over to a besetting sin, or even more so, when they are dabbling in things that they ought not to.
Besides this, a true believer can be attacked from outside – which would be oppression, and resulting in depression, physical ailments, inability to focus (brain fog), disorientation, feelings of hopelessness, sudden episodes of anxiety, irrational fears, paranoia; a Christian may struggle to read the Word or pray and may begin to avoid other Christians – preferring to be left alone. These same symptoms may suggest possession in an unbeliever.
For a Christian, any involvement or even a desire for involvement in occult activities (even something as harmless as leaving a tape recorder on overnight to see if it can pick up any “psychic or spiritual impressions”) must be confessed and repented of, seeking for the LORD to cover them in His blood is a must.
The expression, “to plead the blood” has been unduly criticized in recent years; it’s rightly pointed out that this phrase occurs nowhere in Scripture, however the concept is quite apparent as early as EXODUS (even in GENESIS actually) where the blood of a lamb was applied to the doorposts of Hebrews in Egypt (the Passover).
Essentially, the blood testifies of protection and even ownership; as mentioned previously, the LORD purchased us with His own blood. So if a believer is walking uprightly, not given to carnality, or forbidden practices, and is nevertheless being attacked (when no legal claim can be made by a demonic spirit), pleading the blood is a proclamation that the demon is trespassing on privately owned property – the life of a child of GOD and must leave by the authority of the LAMB of GOD!

TODAY's Teaching #5 – Spiritual Warfare in the 21st Century - 10/15/2022
Ask ten Christians what spiritual warfare is, and you will probably get ten different answers – maybe even eleven? After studying Scripture for a few decades, I’ve come up with my own, and it probably resembles most others:
Spiritual warfare – the contest between the two spiritual kingdoms of GOD and Satan over the souls of humanity, each desiring to direct people towards serving the glory of their respective kingdoms. In the case of GOD’s Kingdom, He seeks to save and sanctify the human soul, whereas Satan’s endeavors to keep them enslaved.
Satan already had the human race in his back pocket when he persuaded our First Parents (Adam and Eve) to rebel against GOD and do it “their own way”. They’ve become sinners, slaves in bondage to the devil. There really aren’t any orphans in this world: One is either a child of GOD or a child of the devil. There’s no third option or neutral position.
Some say that we are all GOD’s children, but this is an error. We are all His creation, yes, but we lost our familial link to the LORD when Adam sinned; hence the need to be born again of the Spirit of GOD, and this is done when we receive Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior:
JOHN 1:12-13
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
Those outside of Christ are still POW’s in Satan’s prison camps, and it’s our mission to seek out and to rescue them, having on the armor of GOD to protect us in our engagement against the evil one, armed with the Sword of the Spirit and the Shoes of the Gospel we are determined to liberate them.
Satan will not stand on the sidelines, wringing his hands and fretting about how he is losing souls – no, he will fight tenaciously to thwart our efforts. Because of his pride, he will not tolerate the loss of a single slave of sin to his enemy, the Savior of souls, the LORD Jesus Christ.
For this reason, Satan will seek to compromise us soldiers of Christ, to get us to fall for temptation and into sin. As long as we remain compromised, we are invalidated, fallen, no longer able to conduct warfare.
A slogan or motto I teach in my Discipleship Class 103: Spiritual Warfare:
UPRIGHT and OUTREACH! We must walk in the Spirit, walk in holiness, allow the Spirit of Christ to live out His victory through our lives, and by abiding in His Word, in prayer, and godly fellowship we are by the grace of GOD able to maintain our UPRIGHTENESS.
In such a spiritual condition, we will come against “the gates of hell” – that is, the authority of the kingdom of darkness, and prevail against it (MATT 16:18), snatching souls left and right, leading them to the LORD for their redemption, and thus, they themselves become enlisted in the LORD’s army! From slavish sinner to sanctified soldier in JESUS! That is our OUTREACH, which includes evangelism, prayer, fasting, setting souls free from demonic possession or oppression!
Every disciple should be well trained in the authority that they have in Christ. For a child of GOD, who has the Spirit of Christ residing in them, and the LORD’s robe of righteousness upon them (and the garments of salvation; ISA 61:10) when they pray in the name of JESUS (to pray in His name is to pray in accordance with His will, His heart, His nature, His desire, according to His Word), the Father hears and responds to those prayers just as though it was the LORD Jesus Himself, the only begotten of the Father, that prayed that prayer! WOW! What can Satan do to overcome that??
In a very real sense, we are the LORD’s deputies, carrying out the will of ... “Sheriff Shiloh” could we say?
1 JOHN 5:14-15
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.
We are living in the days just prior to the reign of antichrist. Satan is maneuvering all of the forces of hell and earth towards the ultimate goal of setting up this one world order, in preparation for the Beast’s rising to power and assuming his throne in the kingdom of darkness that will manifest fully in this world.
In light of this preparatory perdition, we are facing increasing demonic activity as well as the wickedness of this world which is waxing greatly before our very eyes. This world wasn’t half as bad as it is now, just ten years ago!
I believe that we Christians will be facing satanic opposition like never before, particularly those of us in the West, and especially here in America. I believe that the church as a whole is woefully unprepared for the war just ahead. In fact, it’s so close upon our ranks, that if you pay attention, you can smell the battle smoke!
For this reason, I would strongly recommend you read this Four Part Series: The TTUF Book Report on WAR of the AGES by Greg Reid.
As well as this, another Four Part Series: The TTUF Interview with Greg Reid on his landmark book WAR of the AGES.
There is a book that I highly recommend for all Christians to read: William Gurnall’s (1616-1679) excellent treatment on The CHRISTIAN in COMPLETE ARMOR (originally published in 1865), a work highly recommended by no less than Charles Spurgeon and J.C. Ryle. I have the multivolume set in one binding, and in my opinion it’s the best classic treatment on the subject of the armor of GOD and the engagement of the saint in spiritual warfare.
The best book I know of in the 21st century is Greg Reid’s book, WAR of the AGES.
If one were to procure these two works, having already been armed by the WORD of GOD, the Holy Scriptures, one can’t be much better equipped than this for proper knowledge in the training of spiritual warfare.
We already know that Satanism, and even more so, Luciferianism is experiencing a kind of "Renaissance", the ranks of which are swelling – while we in the church think of spiritual warfare as a rather quaint 80’s sort of concept, out of vogue with today’s more sensible, rational Christianity that’s far too sophisticated to take the Bible literally, much less the blood drenched Cross where Christ died for the atonement of the sins of the world.
Our Bibles have become dubious paraphrases; prayer is allocated to a polite mention of GOD at the beginning and ending of our services, and at meal times, witnessing is a lost art – done by only 2% of any church body you might examine.
Our youth, the next generation of the church can barely tell you what they believe about the Bible, much less why they believe it – not in the least equipped in Christian discipleship, certainly not in spiritual warfare.
Are we late in preparations for this ensuing war? That’s a gross understatement!! We have to get serious in our walks with Christ – it’s past time to shuck off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light (ROM 13:12).
The reason why I felt led of the LORD to do this short series is out of a heart of love and concern for the body of Christ, and the fight that we will engage in (some of us have already engaged) in the very near future.
I also wanted to issue warnings to the church from getting involved in any way with Halloween; regardless of cute little costumes that we don upon our tots, the ghoulish accoutrements that we strewn over our houses and lawns, and the spooky fun that people customarily engage in - - this is a night of satanic sacrifices: where animals, and dare I say, even people (of all sizes, but the smaller the better) are offered up as a demonic delicacy for the devil.
And demonic power continues to thrive and grows and rots our society all the more with its corruption. How can we commune at the LORD’s table and at Satan’s as well? How can we hope to engage in the battle if we are celebrating one of Satan’s high unholy days? When are we going to wake up and understand the spiritual consequences of our lackadaisical lifestyle that’s satisfied with a brief visit to GOD’s house on a Sunday, and settle into the worldly ways of this Babylonish system the rest of the week?
Lastly, I want to summon the saints with a call to battle against Satan and his kingdom of darkness, this High Unholy Day and the detestable deeds of abomination that would take place, perpetrating lawlessness, and bloodshed upon the innocent.

BUT our prayers are most effective when we saints pray in concert, along with other Christians. You can be a part of a nationwide effort in coordinating prayer warriors, State by State across this land. Join up at the link for RESIST and RESCUE, and commit to praying for your city, your county, and your State: for the rescue of SRA victims, for the rescue of those snared in the occult. Pray against events that are born of Satanic spirit and resist them by the authority of Christ!
I call for saints to take the time of Halloween on OCTOBER 29th, the 30th and the 31st to pray and fast for the denial of covens and Satanic circles in Satanic Ritual Abuse upon their would-be victims, that the demonic powers of the kingdom of darkness would be confounded, unable to fulfill their will during this time, that Law enforcement would be spiritually protected as they safely take into custody any occultists engaging in illegal activities. That Satanists, witches, occultists would be confronted with the Gospel from the lips of saints, whose hearts will express the love of Christ to these lost souls!
