FIVE GREAT LIGHTS: PART THREE
So far, we’ve covered lights 1 and 2.
The 1st light was - The Light of Creation. Where God has made Himself known through creation.
The 2nd light was – The light of Conscience. Where God has made Himself known through our conscience. God created us with an internal knowledge of right and wrong.
The five great lights are as follows (for each one of these LIGHTS, we will include a hyperlink to the corresponding teaching that pastor Sonny gave at SHINE BRIGHT Church):

Again, these five lights are ways in which God has revealed Himself, leaving everyone without an excuse on Judgement day.
Let’s proceed with great light #3
3. The Light of Condemnation - This can also be seen as the light of God’s wrath, (or the revealing of God’s wrath) anger, justice and righteous judgment towards unrepentant sinners.
God’s visible and just and even terrifying actions toward sin and sinners reveals something about Him, it reveals His righteousness, His matchless love for what is right and honorable, His holiness/sinlessness/otherness, and His utter hatred towards rebellion. In other words, God shows Himself through His justified punishments.
Again, God revealing His holy anger against sin and sinners leaves humanity without an excuse on Judgement day. No one can plead ignorance.
Turn the revelation of God to ROMANS:
ROMANS 1:18
“For the wrath of God is revealed (is made known/is made visible) from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,”
God has shown us His invisible existence through His just and fierce anger towards sinful actions and lifestyles in so many different ways. And we’ll take a closer look at how God has revealed His wrath towards godlessness and truth haters throughout human history.
The Light of Condemnation or the light of God’s Wrath can be seen and understood in 6 categories. (You are now in a seminary-ish classroom)
1. Consequential Wrath. 2. Cataclysmic Wrath. 3. Abandonment Wrath. 4. Eschatological wrath. 5. Redemptive Wrath. 6. Eternal Wrath.
Let’s take a look at these six categories one at a time, starting with:
Consequential Wrath is reaping what you sow wrath/punishment.
The spiritual and physical death of Adam and Eve (and by extension the entire human race) is connected to consequential wrath.
We all die because we all sin (ROM 3:23).
HIV aka Aids, STD’s, Sexually transmitted diseases or infections along with aids are a result of consequential wrath.
ROMANS 1:24-27 (27b “and receiving in themselves the penalty (punishment/consequence) of their error which was due". They reap what they sow.
God shows us His hatred/wrath/condemnation against sexual immorality, against perversions, against fornication, against brazen lust and promiscuousness through HIV and STD’s.
It’s God's way of saying, “Do you reject My beautiful design for sexual pleasure by way of the marriage union between one biological man and one biological woman? Then reap the visible and painful consequences of your sexual rebellion.”
And what does sinful humanity do in response to God’s judgments? They repent!? Nope. They get creative by inventing sexual protections and medications to avoid STD’s instead of doing things God’s pure way.
If STDs could talk, they would say, “You have no excuse on Judgement Day.”
By the way, the CDC reports that there are millions of Americans who suffer with STD’s today. It’s safe to say that these people are experiencing God’s consequential wrath.
And it’s not just the world that experiences God’s consequential wrath. The Church does too (God’s genuine children).
The death of Ananias and Sapphira is connected to consequential wrath.
The premature death of genuine Christians is also connected to consequential wrath.
Notice Paul’s “many” twice. Which means that the early Church was doing at home hospital visits and officiating funeral services all the time. And today it’s no different. God still kills those who disrespect His table – The LORD’s Supper. True children of God go to heaven while false converts go to hell. Today, “many” in Christian churches get sick and die because of this and many in the Catholic QUQ “church,” get sick and die because of this. More of them than us, I’m sure. Either way, this is why it’s so important to fully respect the LORD’s Table aka Communion.
2. Cataclysmic Wrath
Cataclysmic Wrath is the wrath of God let loose through natural (and supernatural) disasters.
The world flood in Noah’s day was God’s cataclysmic wrath on worldwide display. The Grand Canyon's breathtaking formation, seashells and fish fossils found at the top of the highest mountains of the world prove a world flood. And this visible evidence says without audible words “We are proof of God’s cataclysmic wrath, so repent and get right with Him now!”
The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah is connected to God’s cataclysmic wrath. GENESIS 19:24 says, “Then the LORD rained brimstone and Gomorrah, from the LORD out of the heavens.”
2 PETER 2:4-10
4 For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment; 5 and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly; 6 and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly; 7 ¶ and delivered righteous Lot, who was oppressed by the filthy conduct of the wicked 8 (for that righteous man, dwelling among them, tormented his righteous soul from day to day by seeing and hearing their lawless deeds) -- 9 then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment, 10 ¶ and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
The plagues that the LORD slammed Pharaoh and Egypt with were also connected to cataclysmic wrath.
From the waters turned to blood, an invasion of frogs, lice, flies and locusts, killer hailstones, and total thick black darkness.
God opening the earth to swallow up Moses’ enemy Korah and his men was connected to cataclysmic wrath.
3. Abandonment Wrath
Abandonment Wrath is when God lets people go after what they really want. At this point God turns people over to their greedy sinful cravings. He holds back His loving restraint, but only because they have rejected it for so long.
ROMANS 1:24
“Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,” (This is all out of all forms of fornication)
ROMANS 1:26
“For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.” (This is lesbianism unleashed – verse 27 points to a homosexual/sodomy revolution)
ROMANS 1:28
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting;” (This is madness. The loss of conscience, convictions and reason)
Who does God abandon? Those who proudly and consistently ignore and reject the truth to do what is evil.
King Saul and Sampson experienced abandonment wrath when the Spirit of the LORD departed from them (1 SAM. 16:14; JUDGES 16:20).
The Nation of Israel experienced God’s abandonment wrath when God sent the Babylonians and the Assyrians to overtake them and make them their slaves.
In PSALM 81:11-12 God says,
“But My people would not heed My voice, And Israel would have none of Me. So I gave them over to their own stubborn heart, To walk in their own counsels.
Jesus abandoned much of the Pharisees in His day (MATT 15:14)
4. Eschatological wrath
Eschatological wrath is end times wrath. This is mainly found in the Book of Revelation.
There are the 7 Seals, then the 7 Trumpets and lastly the 7 Bowls of judgement and all this happens just before Jesus’ second coming and millennial reign.
These judgments consist of the ride of the Antichrist, worldwide conflict, starvation, widespread death, cosmic disturbances (like “a great earthquake” which sounds like a category 100), vegetation scarcity, bloody oceans, Sun and moon darkened, and by chapter 9 in Revelation, four powerful angels/demons are released to kill 2.5 billion people on earth.
5. Redemptive Wrath
Redemptive wrath is the wrath of God poured upon Jesus for all who would commit to Jesus as their LORD and Savior.
ISAIAH 53:4-6
4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
ROMANS 3:23-26 (God showed everyone how much He hates mankind’s sin especially the sins of the OT saints by crushing His Son instead of them)

6. Eternal Wrath
Lastly, True Born again Christians may experience some of God’s category wraths but NOT His eternal wrath.

GENESIS 2:16-17 says, “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God pays humanity (Adam and Eve’s biological children) with death for sinning against Him just like our first parents. Death is inevitable for us all – unless we are raptured.
Every time we attend a funeral service, that lifeless body or the box of ashes tell us without audible words, “We lay here lifeless because God exists, and the consequences of sin are real.”

ACTS 5 records the incident where this married Christian couple “9 agreed together” “3 to lie to the Holy Spirit” about the price they sold their property for. So God decided to kill them both in public at church during the offering collection time for boldly lying to Him.

In 1 CORINTHIANS 11 The Apostle Paul warns the Church not to take The LORD’s Supper in a flippant way or in an “29 unworthy manner.” And in 1 COR.11:30 Paul gives the reason,
“For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep (sleep is a euphemism for die. These are people dying before their time like ECCL. 7:17).”

Archeologists have found many sulfur rocks where the ancient cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were (there is a really good YouTube Video called “Sulfur balls of Sodom and Gomorrah”). Those sulfur stones say without audible words “God’s cataclysmic wrath on sexual perversion is real so repent and turn to Him now!”

NUMBERS 16:31-34
31 Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. 33 So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. 34 Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, "Lest the earth swallow us up also!"

One commentary puts it this way – “As the godless run farther and farther from God, God intervenes less and less. The Spirit’s restraint of sin is a blessing, and if that restraint is removed, all wickedness follows.” – from Got Questions

Then the Bowls of judgement: Severe boils, more bloody water, solar flares released to scorch unrepentant sinners, darkness and pain, then one last great earthquake like never before to destroy cities followed by hailstone that weighs 100+ pounds.

Redemptive wrath is the wrath of God poured upon Jesus for all who would commit to Jesus as their LORD and Savior.

6. Eternal Wrath
Eternal wrath is basically eternity in hell for all who finally and fully refuse Jesus as LORD and loving Savior.
REVELATION 21:5-8
5 Then He who sat on the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new." And He said to me, "Write, for these words are true and faithful." 6 And He said to me, "It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 "He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
ROMANS 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation (no hell) to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
