"We see, in many a land, the proudest dynasties and tyrannies still crushing, with their mountain weight, every free motion of the Consciences and hearts of men. We see, on the other hand, the truest heroism for the right and the greatest devotion to the Truth in hearts that God has touched. We have a work to do, as great as our forefathers and, perhaps, far greater. The enemies of Truth are more numerous and subtle than ever and the needs of the Church are greater than at any preceding time. If we are not debtors to the present, then men were never debtors to their age and their time. Brethren, we are debtors to the hour in which we live. Oh, that we might stamp it with Truth and that God might help us to impress upon its wings some proof that it has not flown by neglected and unheeded." -- C.H. Spurgeon . . . "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31, 32 . . . . .

TTUF TOPIC # 3: What About Prayer? PART 2 of 3:

The Heart of Prayer
: Fellowship with GOD Almighty, Abba, Father

ROMANS 8:14-16
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God
,

There will be times when you’ll be facing some severe trials; memorized Scripture will be priceless at such times, but also the ever ready resource of prayer is yours, where you can (spiritually speaking), enter into the very holy of holies, approaching the throne of GOD to receive His grace, where you can acquire the help necessary to endure hard, difficult, uncertain times!

HEBREWS 4:16
16 Let us therefore come boldly
[with confidence] unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Why Should We Pray?
God insists that we ask, not because He needs to know our situation, but because we need the spiritual discipline of asking. — Catherine Marshall (JAMES 4:2b).
~ So we won’t be worried and fearful:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. — PHILIPPIANS 4:6

~ So we can receive answers and provisions from our heavenly Father:

So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. — LUKE 11:9-10

~ So as we come together in prayer, the LORD is especially present with us:

Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them. —MATTHEW 18:19-20; see also PSALM 145:18; PSALM 116:12,17

Other reasons to pray:

~ To keep us safe from temptation:

LUKE 22:40
On reaching the place,
[Jesus] said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”

~ If we do fall into temptation and sin, we can confess and repent and receive forgiveness:

PSALM 32:5-6
Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”— and you forgave the guilt of my sin. Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found.

~ To find relief from distress, anxiety, fear, apprehension:

PSALM 4:1

Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer
.

~ When you find yourself in trouble or in happiness, sick or in need of healing:

JAMES 5:13-16

Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective
.

~ Needing direction in life, where to go, what to do:

JEREMIAH 42:3

Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do
.

These are just some of the verses from Scripture to show us how to pray, and why. We'll get into more of this in the 3rd part of this Three Part Topic!

Thanks James. God bless you! Some great scripture in here. Alot of people underestimate the power of prayer but I think the hardest part is just getting started. Once you start, 'the battle is half over' and God will work his wonders.
