"We see, in many a land, the proudest dynasties and tyrannies still crushing, with their mountain weight, every free motion of the Consciences and hearts of men. We see, on the other hand, the truest heroism for the right and the greatest devotion to the Truth in hearts that God has touched. We have a work to do, as great as our forefathers and, perhaps, far greater. The enemies of Truth are more numerous and subtle than ever and the needs of the Church are greater than at any preceding time. If we are not debtors to the present, then men were never debtors to their age and their time. Brethren, we are debtors to the hour in which we live. Oh, that we might stamp it with Truth and that God might help us to impress upon its wings some proof that it has not flown by neglected and unheeded." -- C.H. Spurgeon . . . "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31, 32 . . . . .

The Remarkable Record of Job

"Far from being an engaging fable, the account of Job in the Bible is one of the most historically and scientifically accurate records of the ancient world."

The Remarkable Record of Job by Dr. Morris is perhaps the most biblical and accurate framework for understanding the book of Job.
This interpretation lets the text speak for itself and doesn’t read into the Bible long ages or evolution. Morris explained, "if the problem of suffering is the point of the book of Job, God never gives the answer."

Perhaps the oldest book in the Bible, the Book of Job touches on many subjects of science and history. Dr. Morris' commentary is unique from most seminary and Church teachings prevalent today, for it attests to the historicity of a man named Job who understood at the end of his life that God cannot be "figured out," but He can most certainly be trusted. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." declares the LORD."  Isaiah 55:8-9

As a young Christian, I avoided reading the Book of Job for years, partly because of the way it had been taught with doom and gloom, suffering and hateful friends. Partly because I thought if I studied it, God just might test me as He tested Job. Thankfully there is more in this book than Job's suffering.

I agree with Dr. Morris that the focus of Job is not suffering, but rather God. God the Almighty.   Job not only references the historical accounts of Creation, but the Fall and the Curse, the Great Flood, God's Promise to Noah, Babel, the Scattering and the birth of Nations.  No wonder liberal theologians deny Job as a real person, along with Creation and the Flood. They deny it because they deny the authority, the accuracy, the inspiration, the history and the TRUTH OF GOD's WORD.

Later, Job's questions about man's sinful state, his inability to please God, death, eternal life, heaven would all be answered in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Excerpt taken from the foreword:

"Most commentaries on Job emphasize its literary style or attempt to analyze its philosophical content.  They usually conclude that the book simply records the utter despair of a godly man (either real or mythical) enduring great suffering as he vainly attempts to find some divine purpose for his pain.

This is not the approach taken by Dr. Morris.  In nine concise, analytical, and thought-provoking chapters, he reveals that the book of Job...

serves as an overview of Satan and his wicked activities.

supports a literal interpretation of Genesis 1-11 and provides additional details.

does not deal primarily with the problem of suffering in the lives of godly people.

He concludes that the book has a two-fold purpose.  Its heavenly purpose is to demonstrate God's sovereignty to angels (both good and evil) and perhaps to believers already in glory.  Its earthly purpose is to re-emphasize the importance of God's original creation.  In fact, Morris shows that creation is the basis of true Christology, faith, salvation, fellowship, and peace among human beings."

About Dr. Morris:

A prolific and influential scholar known to believers and skeptics alike as “the father of modern creation science,” Dr. Henry M. Morris truly was a man of science and a staunch man of God. He was even said to have set the terms of debate about evolution for the second half of the 20th century by one Pulitzer Prize-winning academician. Dr. Morris began his serious study of the Bible in the 1930s and authoring books in the 1940s, but it was his landmark work, co-authored with Dr. John Whitcomb, titled The Genesis Flood in 1961 that influenced generations to begin discovering the fallacies of evolution and the biblical truth of creation.

With over 60 books, founding and leading the Institute for Creation Research (ICR), Dr. Morris’ death in 2006 was a profound loss to millions.

Dr. Morris created a thriving legacy that continues to equip many Christians to be able to defend the accuracy and authority of Scripture today. The new Henry Morris Study Bible and other resources that he developed remain essential sources of knowledge and understanding for believers.
