"We see, in many a land, the proudest dynasties and tyrannies still crushing, with their mountain weight, every free motion of the Consciences and hearts of men. We see, on the other hand, the truest heroism for the right and the greatest devotion to the Truth in hearts that God has touched. We have a work to do, as great as our forefathers and, perhaps, far greater. The enemies of Truth are more numerous and subtle than ever and the needs of the Church are greater than at any preceding time. If we are not debtors to the present, then men were never debtors to their age and their time. Brethren, we are debtors to the hour in which we live. Oh, that we might stamp it with Truth and that God might help us to impress upon its wings some proof that it has not flown by neglected and unheeded." -- C.H. Spurgeon . . . "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:31, 32

GOT TRUTH? An Examination of What Truth Is and How It Affects Us – PART TWO-b

~~By James Fire

A little review is in order:

We are now going to shift gears a bit and look at the implications of the Truth and the reason why we must stand on and for the Truth.

It was recently in my protracted thoughts that the Truth and its resultant fruit tends toward beneficence while deception and its resultant fruit tends towards detriment. Consider the lies of evolution, of Nazism, of humanism, of revisionist history and their results:

From evolution we derive a purposeless universe populated by thinking meat-sacks with no need of morals, integrity, and conscience or a sense of a God-given destiny (offered through Jesus Christ) and entirely licensed towards self-gratification.From Nazism such fruit is evident: over six million dead Jews (among many others), and with equal justification for these heinous murders and an abrogation of freedom and a confiscation of the free enterprise system.

Likewise with Communism: gulags galore with the death of hundreds of millions, Christian, Jew and others, and similarly a “legal plunder” ethic that impoverishes, depletes and negates freedom and liberty.

Humanism places man at the center of reality, and on a pinnacle of importance, glorifying and extolling his supposed virtues, and denying any moral flaw, sinful intentions, and most vehemently an Eternal God Who is the Judge of the Earth, and thus instilling in its adherents a lethal sense of pride that will incarcerate them without parole into a hard-heartedness towards God and the spiritual freedom He provides through the LORD Jesus Christ.

Note: The above belief systems are, to one degree or another predicated upon evolution, thus this false system of so-called science is foundational to much of the global lies that predominate the world today.

From revisionist history we get such fallacies and falsehoods as the Israeli/Palestinian issue, and because of the fact that nations submitted to Islam have the preponderance of petroleum in an oil cartel, they (supposedly ‘they’) hold the world hostage and cow everyone to believing such lies as the historical fact of Palestinian’s presence in the land which God gave to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This lie also lends power to the Islamic Agenda which we have reported on just previously on TTUF.

Somehow we perceive lies in any capacity as less detrimental than they are; certainly if one person believes a lie, its destructive level resides (in the main) with themselves and those closest to them. Yet if ten people believe the same lie, the arena of destruction is increased. What about an entire city? Or a nation? Or a world?

We are reminded of that horrific foretelling in the writings of Paul the Apostle to the Thessalonian church regarding those who refuse the truth and adhere to lies –

2 Thess 2:7-12
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let (hinder, restrain), until he be taken out of the way.

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

This “mystery of iniquity (that is, lawlessness)” was already at work at the time when Paul wrote those inspired, prophetic words; yet their working would increase with industrious intent until a tremendous apostasy takes place (departure from ‘the faith’ that is, the truth; something we ourselves are witnessing in greater degrees today) and then this “Wicked one,” the “man of sin, the son of perdition” is revealed:

2 Thess 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition
;

Take note of such words and phrases as “lying wonders”, “deceivableness”, “receive not the LOVE of the truth”, “strong delusion”, “a lie”, “believed not the truth”, “son of perdition (lawlessness – without truth there can be no such law, thus lawlessness indicates the absence of truth).

As one meditates on these passages, one requires little more evidence that the fruit of lies and deception produces such deplorably universal destruction! Perhaps with this perspective in mind we can all the more appreciate to greater degrees the precious value of the Truth!

With that in mind, we now return to a book that we here at TTUF reported on in an earlier series of articles, by John MacArthur, The TRUTH War: the following are excerpts from Ch. 3 entitled Constrained Into Conflict: Why We Must Fight For The Faith

Jude 1:3

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Jude, the half-brother of Jesus of Nazareth, and also the brother of James (writer of the epistle by the same name, who of course was also a half-brother of Jesus), it would seem, was about to embark on a doctrinal dissertation on “the common (or universally accepted as true) salvation” but he detoured and instead, started writing about how we “should earnestly contend for the faith”.

John MacArthur comments:

“What do you suppose happened to make Jude change the tone and substance of what he wrote? Jude doesn’t say. Perhaps before he got started writing, he received information from somewhere – a report, a letter, or an eyewitness account telling him of a threat to the spiritual well-being of this flock. Or it could simply be that the LORD supernaturally revealed something to him that prompted this change in the message . . . the glorious salvation about which Jude had planned to write was in danger of being severely compromised unless the church rose to the occasion of fighting for the gospel.”

May I say that the most efficient way of fighting FOR the gospel is in the declaration OF the Gospel “with [its] many infallible proofs” (Acts 1:3). The enemy could get us so distracted in defending the Gospel that we place all our energy into the endeavor; hammering away at the Truth of the Gospel, proclaiming the risen Christ, and His finished work on the cross must never leave our focus. Having done this, and proving the validity of its claims will affect the greatest work in evangelism.

MacArthur notes: “What started out as a warm, friendly attempt to offer comfort and encouragement turned out instead to be a shrill call to arms. The whole epistle is a war cry that applies to all believers of all ages. Jude urges us to join the Truth War and side with the LORD.”

Just as we, the church, are being assailed by error, heresy, subterfuge and attacks of every sort, so too was the early church. Thus as we read their writings, we can examine them for their content, and how to exploit their techniques and strategies (inspired by the very wisdom of God Himself) in overcoming the lies and deceptions of the enemy by the written Word through these various epistles.

Peter employs much of the same content as Jude does, and his epistle was written some time beforehand, so we know that the enemy’s attempt to corrupt the church was relentless. We the church can be nothing less than that! Read – 2 Peter 2:1 - 3:4; also 2 Peter 2: 1-2 and compare these with Jude vs. 4, 11-12, 17 and 18. Consider that while Jude is exclusively dealing with error and opposing it, other epistles likewise were written and refuted false doctrine and problematic heresies such as Hebrews, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians and 2 and 3 John.

In the sub-titled section called “Stealth Apostasy” MacArthur writes:

“False teaching by deceptive spiritual terrorists infiltrating the church has always plagued the church . . . Satan’s design is to lead people who have been exposed to the gospel away from it [and] into damning error. There are always people in and around the church who have heard the truth and understood it but who have not yet embraced it and committed to it savingly [sic]. They can be led to reject it, and that is exactly what the evil one hopes to accomplish.

Also consider that the LORD Jesus Himself, in giving the parable of the sower, describes the scene of the Gospel sower as being fruitful in just one out of every four scenarios, and in the cases of the non-fruit producing seed, the reasons given have to do with the enemy (his world-system) or the individual’s own hard heartedness.

Jude employs the same sort of agricultural allegory in vs. 12:

Jude 1:12

. . . clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots
;

And upon such, the severity of God’s judgment will fall, unless these too genuinely repent from sin, and the lies they have believed; for if no repentance is forthcoming, the inevitable outcome will be as follows:

Jude 1:15-16
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage
.

“This is the very essence of apostasy: hearing the truth, knowing what it is, professing to accept it, and then finally rejecting it. Because the final disavowal of the truth occurs with full knowledge and understanding, this is a fatal apostasy from which there is no hope of recovery,” states MacArthur. “Church history is filled with examples of [Christian leaders] from the Judaizers whose false gospel confused the Galatian churches, to the many corrupt televangelists of today whose avarice, moral failures, false prophesies, phony ‘miracles’ and erroneous doctrine are a reproach to Christianity and a stumbling block to the undiscerning.”

Apostasy on the one hand is a deliberate and willful choice on the part of the individual professor of faith, and yet also, like some sort of spiritual disease, it’s communicable by means of its deceptive influences. Apostasy is a sin, and all sin wields a certain power of deception. Thus deceivers are themselves deceived (2 Tim. 2:13; also John 16:2 and an example of apostasy as documented by the scriptures themselves, found in Acts 8: 9-25, regarding Simon the Sorcerer who supposedly believed the Gospel).

The LONG WAR for TRUTH –

“. . . From that moment in the garden when the serpent brought his war against truth into the world of humanity – through the close of the Old Testament canon and beyond, right down to the present day – the campaign against truth has been unrelenting and shockingly effective.”

Time and time again Israel was warned not to depart from the living God to serve the false gods of the nations about her, and yet despite these warnings, Israel apostatized; likewise the church has been given ample warning, including the example of Israel herself and what happened to her as a result, and for all that, today we still see the church falling away from the faith! So we see that it’s not simply a dilemma in the church, but one that has existed since the dawn of man, and even prior to that, when one considers that Satan, by some means, persuaded up to one third of the angelic race to rebel against God. This is, in fact, the long war for truth, and we are living in the final battles of this tremendous struggle for the immortal souls of humanity!

Even, amazingly, during the time when Jesus walked the Earth, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, apostasy was present as many who were formerly His disciples, left Him due to their offense of the Truth He declared, and walked with Him no more (John 6:66 [It never fails to interest me that the verse that declares this departure from the LORD was referenced numerically as vs. 66 of the 6th chapter of John. One must wonder at the editor that took on the task of numbering verses, and if he intentionally managed this]).

Referring to this departure from Jesus Christ, MacArthur writes words that appropriately describe the mind set of the modern American church that desires to (in their minds) ‘redress’ the Gospel by re-dressing it in a different set of post-modern, emergent, ecumenical, deception-inspired clothes:

“Jesus’ teachings made the truth starkly clear. These people, who evidently saw the truth plainly and understood Jesus’ teaching perfectly well, turned away any way. In fact, the utter clarity of the truth was the very thing that drove them away. When they saw the truth for what it was, they simply hated it. It was too demanding, too unpopular, too inconvenient, too much of a threat to their own agenda, and too much of a rebuke to their sin. Remember, ‘men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil’ (John 3:19).”

“Many Christians today are weary of the long war over truth. They are uneasy about whether doctrinal disagreements and divisions are a blight on the spiritual unity of the church and therefore a poor testimony to the world. These and similar questions are constantly heard nowadays. ‘Isn’t it time to set aside our differences and just love one another?’ ‘Rather than battling people with whom we disagree over various points of doctrine, why not state a cordial dialogue with them and listen to their ideas?’ ‘Can’t we have a friendly conversation rather than a bitter clash?’ ‘Shouldn’t we be congenial rather than contentious?’ ‘Does the current generation really need to perpetuate the fight over beliefs and ideologies?’ ‘Or can we at last declare peace and set aside debates over doctrine?’

“Of course, there is a legitimate concern in the tone of such questions. Scripture commands us: “If it be possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.” (Romans 12:18). Pursue peace with all people” (Heb. 12:14). “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Gal. 5:22-23). Taken together, these passages make it clear that what Scripture demands of us is the polar opposite of a cantankerous attitude. No one who exhibits the fruit of the Spirit can possibly take delight in conflict. So it should be plain that the call to contend for the faith is not a license for pugnacious spirits to promote strife deliberately over insignificant matters. Even when conflict proves unavoidable, we are not t adopt a mean spirit.
“But conflict is not always avoidable . . . sometimes its even necessary to wage a ‘civil war’ within the church – especially when the enemies of the truth posing as brethren and believers are smuggling dangerous heresy in by stealth.”

WHEN IT’S TIME TO GO TO WAR –

“We thus have an urgent mandate from God Himself to do our part in the Truth War. The Holy Spirit, through the pen of Jude, is urging Christians to exercise caution, discernment, courage and the will to contend earnestly for the truth.
“Notice what we are supposed to be fighting for . . . ‘the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.’
“Jude is speaking of . . . the faith as delivered from Jesus through the agency of the Holy Spirit by the apostles to the church (Acts 2:42).”

John MacArthur validly points out that the Christian faith was not invented, or created by any human agency (so sorry Emergent guys!) but delivered by God! It came by revelation, initially by Jesus Christ, and then those who He commissioned to carry on the work, namely the apostles, who themselves were inspired by the revelation of God to dictate the truth of God on parchment.
This revelation of truth came “ONCE FOR ALL” and now that canon is closed, with no other addendum's, additions, or apostatized writings!!

“That is what the Truth War is all about,” continues MacArthur. “Its not mere wrangling between competing earthly ideologies. It is not simply a campaign to refine someone’s religious creed or win denominational spitting contests. It is not a battle of wits over arcane theological debate, staged to see who is more skilled or [cleverer] in the art of argumentation (sounds like a AOL chat room for Christians!) . . . It is a very serious struggle to safeguard the heart and soul of truth itself and to unleash that truth against the powers of darkness – in hopes of rescuing the eternal souls of men and women who have been unwittingly ensnared by the trap of devilish deception.

“This is a battle we cannot wage effectively if we always try to come across to the world as merely nice, nonchalant, docile, agreeable, and fun-loving people (did you hear THAT Brian McClaren and Rob Bell [Emergent leaders]??). We must not take our cues from people who are perfectly happy to compromise the truth wherever possible ‘for harmony’s sake’. . . Christ and the apostles [never] confronted serious, soul-destroying error by building collegial relationships with false teachers. In fact we are expressly forbidden to do that:

Rom 16:17

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

See also 2 Cor. 6:14-15; 2 Thess. 3:6; 2 Tim. 3:5; 2 John 10-11.

In closing this chapter, MacArthur cautions the saints in a loving manner: “Jude is not suggesting (nor am I) that Christians should contend among themselves over every petty disagreement or divide into factions over every personality conflict. In fact, that is the very thing that the apostle Paul condemned in 1 Cor. 3:3-7. Divisiveness and sectarianism are terrible sins that hurt the church when major divisions are manufactured out of petty differences over trivial, doubtful, indifferent or less than vital matters (Rom. 14:1).”

May I say that we must never compromise on any doctrinal issue that would lead souls into error and would deprive them of justification in Christ Jesus, that would hinder sanctification in the life of the believer, that would steal away the Hope of the Blessed Coming again of the LORD Jesus Christ, or in any other way prove to be a detriment to the believer’s walk.

Other beliefs that are peripheral, and have no bearing on these crucial issues should never be invited by way of debating them, and separating the saints because of any resulting disagreements.

In the final installment of this article, we shall continue with The TRUTH War, as well as conduct a biblical survey on the scriptures that pertain to this most precious and glorious commodity, provided for us by our gracious, loving heavenly Father: TRUTH!

Until then, may the LORD Jesus Christ bless us all, WAY TOO MUCH!!

GOT TRUTH? An Examination of What Truth Is and How It Affects Us – PART TWO-a (taken in part from J. MacArthur’s The TRUTH War & Other Sources)

~~By James Fire

The essence of truth as recorded in scripture has various facets to it. In the Old Testament the word ‘truth’ or emeth in Hebrew, means, “firmness, stability, fidelity, a reliable basis for support. Its attributed to God as well as creatures, and appears in such verbalisms as “truly”, “of a truth”, etc. It’s ascribed not only to statements (Ruth 3:12) but also to behavior (Gen. 24:49).

It’s associated with promises, kindness, justice, and sincerity (see respectively – 2 Sam. 7:28; Gen. 47:29; Neh. 9:13; Isaiah 59:14; Josh 24:14).
In the New Testament, truth retains the moral and personal emphasis of the OT, even though the notion of faithfulness is more often carried by different Greek words.
From an etymological view, “truth” in the NT perspective suggests something that is “open, uncovered, revealed for what it indeed is, and so ascribes something as real and genuine rather than imaginary or spurious, and true rather than false.

When therefore the Bible speaks of “the true God” and, or “the true vine” (as the Nicene Creed put it, “Very God of very God”), this Greek word alethinos, is defined as “true, real, genuine” and is used abundantly in various passages as a predicate (examples: Matt. 22:16; Mark 5:33; 12: 32; John 3:33; 7: 28; 8: 44-46; 17: 3; Rom. 1: 25; Eph. 4: 25; 1 Thess. 1:9; Rev. 6: 10). These declare that God fulfills the meaning of His Name; He is “very God” in distinction from all other ‘gods’. He is absolutely true in His declarations and self-revelation, and He cannot lie.

Num 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

Deut 32:4
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Psalm 146:6
Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:

Rom 3:4
God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Hebr 6:18-19
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

The New Testament brings greater clarity (due to greater, that is to say, more complete revelation) of the Truth. Truth is associated not only with fidelity and justice, but also with knowledge and revelation. This was assisted in the mundane by the eloquence of the Greek language, and its mathematical-like precision in its usage of words and syntax. As one begins to delve into the Greek language, as with any language, it helps to understand the mind set, the culture and philosophies of that particular ethnic group.

The Christian must show caution in studying the Greek language within its context, as the Greek culture was inundated with something called Platonic dualism.

(Although Plato is not the "father" of dualism, certainly he provided a far more extended treatment and defense of the doctrine than anyone who came before him. The Platonic dualism had great influence on Christian thinking, though it could not be made perfectly consistent with scriptural views since Plato shared the Pythagorean belief in transmigration of the soul. The greatest of the early Medieval thinkers was Augustine (354–430) who held,
Man is not a body alone, nor a soul alone, but a being composed of both . . . the soul is not the whole man but the better part of man; the body is not the whole but the inferior part of man . . . and when both are joined they received the name of man. We can say that Christianity, for the most part, adopted a form of Platonic dualism as its official view, which went more or less unchallenged until Aquinas (1225–1274) who followed Aristotle's line of thinking on the mind-body relationship. Aristotle (384–322 B.C.E.) disagreed with Plato, his mentor and teacher, and provided a closer relationship between the mind and the body, claiming that the soul is the "form" of the body.)

The Mind/Body Problem-Platonic Dualism

Truth as seen in the philosophies of the Greeks and most especially among certain branches of the Gnostics, is only pure and viable in its spiritual/mental state, and therefore cannot be experienced in the physical realm as it really is. Thus God is unknowable by the unenlightened (animal) man, and any connection to a heavenly state must by necessity be separate from this world.

However the Bible doesn’t teach this at all, since Truth is embodied in the Person of Jesus Christ, as it states in John 1:14, “. . . the Word became flesh . . . (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.” Further the scriptures teach that the Kingdom of Heaven will know a visible, actual revelation and manifestation here on this Earth, inaugurated and ruled by the LORD Jesus Christ Who shall physically reign as King in Jerusalem, during the millennial reign.

Essentially, while New Testament writers used Greek words and terms, they did so with a predominant view and doctrines from the Old Testament scriptures, such as the belief that the true God is not hidden (or mysteriously unknowable), but acts and speaks with openness that is wholly trustworthy.

“There are three biblical concepts or aspects of Truth –
1) Moral truth (that which is right vs. what is wrong, judicious in its nature) 2) Ontological truth (that which is real, actual, truly existing)
3) Cognitive truth (That which can be known intellectually)

“Ontological and Cognitive truth depends on Moral truth, and as well as this, Cognitive truth depends on Moral and Ontological truth. In all cases, truth depends on God as its basis, Who is the source and standard of righteousness (Moral truth), being (Ontological), and knowledge (Cognitive):

1) Moral truth – Truth is an attribute of God. As such the term speaks of His integrity; His trustworthiness, His faithfulness. It is celebrated by the Hebrew poet throughout the Psalms (89) and by the prophet Hosea (2:19-23); in both cases in association with mercy and love of God. According to Deut. 32:4; Ps. 100:5 and 146:6, His faithfulness is revealed in creation; and in the Apocalypse it is this attribute of God on which rests the expectation of judgment (Rev. 3:7, 14; 6:10; 15: 3,4; 19: 11; 21:5).

“Since the character of God is to be emulated by men, truth in the same sense is to be a moral attribute of men, It entails honesty (Ps. 15:2; Eph. 4:25) and civil justice (Isaiah 59:4, 14, 15) as well.

(We have an article on The RED PILL Consortium as it relates to the death of the ‘moral twins’: truth and justice –

The Demise of the Moral Twins: Truth and Justice)

“Speaking the truth is therefore mandatory so that truthfulness (cognitive truth) marks the trustworthy man (moral truth). However, an overall integrity before both God and men is expected (Exod. 18:21; Josh 24:14). Truth, in this moral sense, is no perfunctory veneer, but stems from the heart, characterizing the whole inner character of a man (1 Sam. 12:24; Psalms 15:2; 51:6).”

2) “Ontological truth (don’t let that BIG word scare you!) – Arising from the concept of one who is wholly trustworthy is the further concept of one who is truly what he purports to be, rather than being a deceiver, living a fiction, or being an imperfect example. In this sense “the true light” (John 1:9) is to perfection the kind of light John the Baptist was in part and for which he prepared; “the true bread” John 6:32) contrasts with the imperfect manna; and “true worshippers” (John 4:23) contrast with those whose worship was still anticipatory. The Thessalonians, moreover, turned from their idols to serve “the true God” (1 Thess. 1:9).
“In this sense we speak of a “true man”, a “true scholar” or a “true son”, meaning one who is true to an ideal, who perfectly embodies our standard. The Greek theory of the universals saw all particulars as participating to some degree in their ideal forms; Christian thinkers like Augustine, Anselm and Aquinas equated these forms with divine ideas and decrees (eternal truths), and ascribed ‘ontological truth’ to natural objects embodying them. This notion arises, however, not from Biblical usage but from conbining the Greek theory of forms with the Biblical concept of the Creator who makes all things according to His perfect wisdom.”

3) “Cognitive truth – A further outcome of moral truth is that one speaks truth and not falsehood. In God, truthfulness stems from omniscience, so that the attribute of truth refers in part to His perfect knowledge (Job 28: 20-26; 38; 39). Since He is Creator, whatever else we know depends on Him. All truth [if it is in all actuality, truth in accordance with God’s Word] is God’s truth. Our cognitive abilities are His creation, and the intelligibility of nature attests to His wisdom. God’s knowledge is therefore archetypal (1) and ours ectypal (2).

1. Archetypal theology is the understanding which the Triune God has always had of Himself, and of every other fact or possibility. Therefore God has a theology apart from our experience of Him or His self-revelation to us.
2. Ectypal theology is God's accommodated self-revelation in the Word of God written. Because of the ontological distinction between the Creator and the creature God's self-revelation in the Bible is necessarily accommodated to human finitude (limitations)
Definitions above taken from this web site:

What Is Archetypal and Ectypal theology?

“What we declare true is therefore contingent, limited, and provisional. We “see in a mirror dimly” and “know in part” (1 Cor. 13:12). But archetypal truth is unlimited, unchanging and absolute. Truth for man is still in the making [as in the discovering and understanding of it, as found in God’s Word; “knowledge shall increase” (Dan. 12:4)] but truth for God is complete [eternally so].
“This is expressed in John’s Logos-concept and Paul’s discussion in the Colossian epistle of the Christ “in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge”. It is the Christ, by whom all things were made and are sustained who gives intelligible order and purpose to nature and history. To know Him is to know the omniscient source of all knowledge – not to know all He knows, but to understand how wisdom and knowledge are at all possible. He is is who guarantees the trustworthiness of the truth we acquire.
“While in the New Testament the cognitive concept of truth is evident (e.g. Mark 5:33; 12: 32; Romans 1:25), it is applied particularly to the message of Christ and His apostles (John 5:33; 8:31-47; Romans 2:8; Gal. 2:5; 5:7; Eph. 1:13; 1 Tim. 3:15; 1 John 2: 21-27). The faithful messenger speaks the truth from God, and in responding to the truth the believer accordintly trusts the God from whom the message comes. Faith is both assent to truth and dependence on God. A Man is therefore said to ‘do the truth’ when his assent to the message and trust in God are evident in his ‘moral truth’ or faithfulness (1 John 1: 6-8; 2:4; 3:18, 19).”

From evolution we derive a purposeless universe populated by thinking meat-sacks with no need of morals, integrity, and conscience or a sense of a God-given destiny (offered through Jesus Christ) and entirely licensed towards self-gratification.
From Nazism such fruit is evident: over six million dead Jews (among many others), and with equal justification for these heinous murders and an abrogation of freedom and a confiscation of the free enterprise system.

2 Thess 2:3
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition
;

Here we end the first half of this article, part 2a of GOT TRUTH; the second half will be immediately posted for your review!

Does God Change, or Do We Need a More "HIPSTER" Faith?

~ by A.M. Kisly

The following article was published by Christianity Today. To my surprise, the article articulated what most of us have been thinking and trying to convey to the Church.Though the author brings an honest look at modern Christianity, I have just discovered that his view is not without partiality...Mr. McCracken according to Lighthouse Trails Ministry is managing editor of Biola University’s magazine and regular writer for the emergent Relevant magazine, considers himself a “hipster,” the answer he gives in the introduction of his book is “yes.” He is not writing impartially as some may think or assume. With that said, the article does, in my opinion, bring to light just how today's "Hipster" churches developed to what they are today.

Just a few words from me, the root of the problem is always the same....questioning God's authority in the life of the believer...Remember the serpent in the garden..."hath ...God said", it is the same deception today.

Professing ourselves wise, we become fools....not FOR CHRIST but as Enemies of God.

Like Lucifer, we think we have a better way, that God's ways are out of date and out of touch with today's society, so we create a New way, the "hipster" way. Compromise is now the way that leads to life and Christianity is in a free fall called the snowball effect, consuming every aspect of the Christina life in its way. It swallows up doctrine and worship, and the set-apart life. But that's not enough, for now we have to promote our new way. We promote NEW AUTHORS, with new ideas and sell new books, new music and even Create NEW MODERN VERSIONS of the BIBLE, deleting those offensive doctrines which are not appealing to our flesh.

Disobedience to God is not a new thing....it started in the Garden of Eden and has plagued the world ever since. When the Word of God is no longer considered to be absolute authority and VITAL in the life of the believer....then it is easily replaced by the compromised heart.

Jesus is the Way, the only way...the Truth...the only truth....and the Life....that's it! He does not change....He is the same yesterday, today and forever!

The following article is long...but very worth the read. I hope you will set a few minutes aside to read and consider what the author is trying to convey.

NEWS ALERT: Global Taxes for World Government

~ by A.M. Kisly

For the past year and a half we have been writing articles and talking endlessly about Bible Prophecy and the coming New World Order (Government, Money and Religious System) amongst other things.
Though many have questioned our sanity and thought us to have gone overboard with our "fanaticism", the facts speak for themselves.

I posted an article last week about the announcement made by Secretary of State - Hillary Clinton to the Counsel of Foreign Relations that, "The United States is Ready to Join the New World Order". Looks like she's right!

This week I discovered a very telling document that was brought to public view by America's Survival, a public policy group, "The United Nations General Assembly Meeting...Draft outcome document of High-level Plenary Meeting of the 65th session of the General Assembly on Millennium Development Goals". The document is endorsed by the Obama Administration and prepared in advance of the September 20-22 United Nations “Summit on the Millennium Development Goals".

According to the website of the conference, National Leaders “informally agreed in negotiations, and the General Assembly transmitted the text to the Summit (High-level Plenary Meeting) for adoption.” It is expected that Obama will approve the document.

What's in the document? “Innovative finance mechanisms” -- Global Taxes

According to item #61 on the document, "We consider that innovative financing mechanisms can make a positive contribution in assisting developing countries to mobilize additional resources for financing for development on a voluntary basis. Such financing should supplement and not be a substitute for traditional sources of financing. While recognizing the considerable progress in innovative sources of financing for development, we call for scaling-up of present initiatives, where appropriate."

Cliff Kincaid states, "The phrases, “Innovative finance mechanisms” and “international financial transactions” are featured in the 31-page “outcome document” that is supposed to be approved by President Obama and other world leaders meeting at the U.N. in New York next week. The document, according to the website of the conference, was “informally agreed in negotiations, and the General Assembly transmitted the text to the Summit (High-level Plenary Meeting) for adoption.” It is expected that Obama will approve the document."

Item #78(f) - "The fulfilment of all ODA commitments is crucial, including the commitments by many developed countries to achieve the target of 0.7 per cent of gross national product (GNP) for ODA to developing countries by 2015 and to reach..."

Cliff Kincaid also stated, "The document affirms the so-called “Monterrey Consensus” that committed nations to spending 0.7 percent of Gross National Product (GNP) on official development assistance (ODA), otherwise known as foreign aid. Over a 13-year period, from 2002, when the U.N.’s Financing for Development conference was held, to the target year of 2015, when the U.S. is expected to meet the Millennium Development Goals, this amounts to $845 billion, according to Jeffrey Sachs of the U.N.’s Millennium Project."

Item #78(h)- "Exploring new innovative finance mechanisms and strengthening and scaling up existing ones, where appropriate, given their potential to contribute to the achievement of the millennium Development Goals. Such voluntary mechanisms should be effective and should aim to mobilize resources that are stable and predictable, they should supplement and not be a substitute for traditional sources of finance and should be disbursed in accordance with the priorities of developing countries and not unduly burden them. We note the ongoing work in this regard, including by the Leading Group on Innovative Financing for Development as well as by the Task Force on International Financial Transactions for Development and the Task Force on Innovative Financing for Education;"

Read Full Document: Draft Outcome Document

While the masses continue to dismiss concerns about the U.N., it appears that they have a major role in working towards a New World Order. The "main-stream" news media obfuscates the news events by blurring truth with liberal agenda, yet hiding in plain sight the conspiracy is revealed.

I don't know who said this, but it's true..."Failure to embrace and act upon truth will always result in deception". Those who are convincing America and the nations of the world that the only way to lasting world peace is the establishment of a "New World Order" are the arm of Satan, and will lead the world to worship the Anti-Christ.

What does the Bible say?

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do."

"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come" (Matthew 24:42).

NEWS ALERT: Clinton Announces "United States is Ready to Join the New World Order"

by A.M. Kisly

The Washington Post published an article yesterday with the details of a speech made to the Counsel of Foreign Relations (the "government" that governs governments) by Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. She stated that the United States is now ready to join the "New World Order".

Clinton's speech builds on the Obama's administration's National Security Strategy, which described a world order "buckling under the weight of new threats." Invoking the far-sighted generation of the 1940s, she dedicated the United States to building a "new global architecture," by bolstering traditional alliances, integrating emerging powers, strengthening regional organizations, renovating global institutions, and promoting universal values. In the abstract, it all sounds compelling. In detail, these aspirations get trickier.

New World Order is a term used to describe the uniting of the world's superpowers to secure and maintain global peace, safety, and security. Synonymous with the term New World Order are the terms one world government, global governance, and globalization. All these terms are used interchangeably and at different times to communicate to different audiences. Make no mistake - they all basically mean the same thing.

We must understand that the events currently happening in our world have been predicted by Bible prophecy scholars for some time. The Biblical scenario according to the scriptures in the book of Revelation have given us a picture of the things to come. Of course, these events are still in our future. Some of these events include: The Rapture of the Church, when Jesus Christ comes back, and we who are true believers are caught up to meet Him in the air. Those who have died in Christ will come out of their graves and will go up to be with the Lord also. From the heavenly vantage point, then, we will be looking down on the earth during the next seven years. These seven years will be a time known as The Tribulation.

During The Tribulation, Antichrist is going to rise to power, and there will be a one-world government, of which he will be the dictator. And in the middle of that Tribulation period, he is going to require everyone on the Earth, according to Revelation 13 to receive a mark on their right hand or forehead which will mean they acknowledge him, not only as their dictator, but as their god. Without that mark they will not be allowed to buy or sell anything for the remainder of the Tribulation period.

At the every end of that time, his world empire which he has built will began to crumble, and he is going to fight, literally, against Jesus Christ. He is going to call Christ down out of heaven. Jesus will come back at The Battle of Armageddon, and with His Word, is going to totally obliterate all of the forces of Antichrist and the Devil. In chapters 17 and 18 of the book of Revelation, we see the destruction of the world empire of Antichrist. Though this is not the next thing on God's time table, it is important to study in order to discern the times in which we live. Before this chapter can take place, a one-world government must emerge. We find here a beast, symbolizing one-world government, and we also find a woman riding on the beast who symbolizes a false religious system, and the enemy of God.

What does this mean to us?

We know that perilous times are coming, because the Bible has warned us so. It is time for the Church, the Bride of Christ, those who have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ to be ready. To those of you who have not been faithful in your walks, who have one foot in the world and one foot in Christianity; to those who have heard the Gospel yet are still holding back and have not yet come to Christ I beg of you to choose this day whom you will serve, the world or God's Son.

I will leave you with a portion of God's infallible and perfect word.

Jude 1 (King James Version)

"Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.

These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

And of some have compassion, making a difference:

And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen."

ENGAGING ISLAM and the MUSLIM AGENDA Part 3 (of 3)

~~By James J. Fire

We now conclude this three part series with this last segment. It is the prayer and hope of TTUF that we will all remain vigilant in our prayers for this nation, and all its peoples, to recognize Divinely appointed opportunities to reach out with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and manifest His love, even in the face of those who would count us their enemies.
In light of this, may this information prove useful to you, and encourage us in evangelism as well as contending for the faith once delivered to us all!

UPDATE: 10-31-11 LET US REASON's TREATMENT on the QURAN and What it says to the Muslim regarding unbelievers.
~ end of update.

THE ISLAMIC AGENDA and MIND SET –A very valid point must be made here: claiming rights and authority for Muslims seems to go unilaterally, that is, they are all for THEIR rights being honored, THEIR authority being established, but they protest loud and long against any others who would seek to protect their own rights!

The same Islamic mind set that demands that their law be respected, to the exclusion of all others, such as found in Saudi Arabia where its illegal upon pain of death to carry a Holy Bible through town, much less be able to conduct a Bible study there* The same Islamic mind set that demands that their law be respected, to the exclusion of all others, such as found in Saudi Arabia where its illegal upon pain of death to carry a Holy Bible through town, much less be able to conduct a Bible study there (I recall from Operation Mobilization that a Christian missionary was flogged to death (600 lashes) when he was caught preaching the Gospel in Saudi Arabia); there are no churches nor synagogues allowed anywhere in Mecca or Medina, or any where else in this country. Yet immigrants from this and other Muslim nations that arrive here expect to be placated and respected, but again, refuse to be considerate of other people and their beliefs.

Consider Dearborn, MI. which has been referred to as “Little Istanbul”.

Brannon Howse, host and founder of World View Matters conducted an interview with a Osama Dakdok, an Egyptian Christian, son of a Baptist minister (in Egypt no less!) who has seen first hand and up close the machinations of Muslims, their perspectives and attitudes, and how they genuinely relate to the real world (far apart from the propaganda that Islam is afforded today in the mainline media, as well as the various political and religious platforms throughout the world). This interview has some extremely chilling implications and will no doubt affect many people’s views on Islam. Here is the link where you can listen to the radio interview (presently archived, see Listen To Archives on site):

HOW TO RESPOND TO THE MUSLIM and THIS AGENDA –

There are many Muslims who, being born into the culture and religion that is Islam, who had no choice in the matter but to be Muslim; who, if they attempt to leave, or say anything disparagingly against it, may be slain by family members in what’s called an ‘honor killing’. These are trapped in a religion that they don’t want, and for fear of being persecuted or slain remain in such a prison as this.

Others who have faithfully adhered to the tenets of Islam and all its accompanying “pillars” have nevertheless experienced a decided lack of fulfillment, disillusioned by the inconsistencies of this faith, and even more so its practices, and yearn for God in a way that Islam cannot provide.

Other Muslims who are fervent, and zealous for Islam, and willing even to lay their lives down for the glory of Allah, are likewise lost and deprived of the Truth according to the Gospel. In all of these cases, these are souls who are in need of salvation through the LORD Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died for their sins as well and desires to see them come to repentance!

Muslims Converting To Disciples of Jesus Christ!

Do a word search on “Islam” at the same web site (access link below) for more information on what’s happening in the world of the Muslim:

Joel Rosenberg's Weblog-EPICENTER

In this last section, we will post various web sites that deal with Islam, as well as recommend several books that treat this enormously powerful and proliferating religion. We can also recommend some missionary societies and organizations that minister the evangelization of Muslims.

HELPFUL BOOKS TO AID IN THE REACHING OF MUSLIMS –
I have in my library various books that may help Christians in reaching out to Muslims with the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as contained in the Gospel:

The first is CHRISTIANS ANSWER MUSLIMS by Gerhard Nehls. It just so happens that this entire book is available for reading online!
Read it here: Online Version of Book: 'Christians Answer Muslims' Courtesy of Answering Muslims.org (note: there is also a link at the bottom of this web page where more books by this author is available).

Another short, but excellent source is:
SHARING YOUR FAITH with a MUSLIM By Charles Marsh –

While I could not find a web link that would adequately brief the reader on this work, I can highly recommend his materials on Muslim evangelism. It would seem however that Mr. Marsh has subsequently written and promoted ideas in his works concerning "social justice" which is a euphemism for socialism. Therefore let the reader beware and understand that TTUF does not endorse these works, nor promotes socialism in any form, be it named that or 'social justice'.

A concise but excellent book by a forty three year missionary who lived among Muslims is by William McElwee, entitled A Christians Response To Islam.
A Christians Response To Islam

Three titles by Phil Parshall are as follows:

Beyond the Mosque, New Paths in Muslim Evangelism, and Bridges to Islam. These, and all other titles by author Phil Parshall can be viewed here –

The Collective Works of Philip Parshall On Islam

The Islamic Invasion – Confronting the World’s Fastest Growing Religion by Dr. Robert Morey The Islamic Invasion

These last two titles are more in the line of personal testimonies from Muslims who have come to faith in Christ:

Into the Light by Dr. Steven Masood – See this title and four others by the author here:

Into The Light and Other Works by Dr. Masood

And lastly, My Big Brother by Dr. Bruce Farnham – (no accompanying link could be found, but you might find this title among others that deal with Islam and Missions among Muslims).

Four related books that would certainly prove useful in understanding how Islam effects the world in which we live are these:

A Cup of Trembling, and Judgment Day by Dave Hunt and the aforementioned book,
From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters. All three titles are available through TBC (thebereancall.org)
Islam and the Bible: Why Two Faiths Collide, by David Goldmann:

Islam and the Bible

MY OWN EXPERIENCE WITH MUSLIMS –

In the summer of 1987 I (James Fire) had the enormous privilege of departing the United States on a mission to go abroad, in seeking to minister to Muslims with Operation Mobilization. As someone who himself carried the burden of attempting to please God by my subjection to His laws, and seeking to do good works in order to gain approval by Him (though my background is that of a Roman Catholic), I could readily relate to the Muslim mind set that likewise holds such views and religiously bound obligations.

As I ventured towards Europe for further missionary training (having already received some in the [then] main headquarters of O.M. in New Jersey) the LORD led me to minister with other Christians who joined up with F.F.A. (Friends From Abroad) in seeking to share the Gospel with Muslims, but also Hindus, Buddhists, and Sikhs as well. For those two months of intensive outreach, evangelism, street witnessing, and church attendance we were able to touch the hearts of many in that land of England. Even back in 1987, twenty three years ago, the Muslims had the motto of “England is our Gate-way” that is, that once Muslims established themselves in England, they would then have the means to retake Europe. Today we see the fruits of their efforts and they are formidable indeed.

I found the Muslims there in England, for the most part, very passionate and even enthusiastic in having conversations about God; most were quite eager to hear what we had to say, particularly since we represented our various homelands which numbered anywhere from seven to twenty two different countries! There were others who seemed rather ambivalent, even in discussing their own religious beliefs; it seemed that these were Muslim in name only, or nominal believers. On the other end of the spectrum there were those who were not only passionate, but zealous to the point of being hostile, verbally and otherwise (though in all actuality we met with more violent reactions from Jewish people than we did Muslims).

We learned not to be timid or shy about our beliefs; Muslims respect those who hold strong beliefs, passion and faith in their own ‘religion’. Any timidity is seen as a form of wavering, weakness or even disbelief.

I recall having a debate with one Muslim gentleman who was obviously quite intellectual, which I found appealing as I’m somewhat of a thinker myself. We were engaged deeply in various arguments, and involved with clever rhetoric and theological discussion. The missionary accompanying me was Juha Petranov from Finland, and as his English was somewhat limited, he resolved to remain quiet but in an attitude of intercessory prayer. During a lull in our conversation however, Juha broke in and said with his halting, broken English, but with a demeanor of complete humility and gentleness:

”Excuse me; my English is not so good but I need to say to you about Jesus. It is very important that I say this because He loves you so very much, and He wants you to know that He died on the cross for your sins, and you can have life with Him forever. I know this is true because my life with Jesus is real; it is not religion, it is my life which Jesus saved. You can have this life too, but you don’t work for this, it is God’s gift for you and He wants you to have Jesus, because He loves you! Thank you for hearing me.” With a gentle smile, Juha bowed out of the conversation and resumed prayer.

I felt my eyes stinging with tears as I witnessed this gentle, young man with absolute sincerity share Jesus, not with the intellectual pride that I had (or perhaps even the Muslim gentleman with whom we spoke), but with the faith of a child. I looked at the Muslim who likewise had tears in his eyes. Up until that point, he continued to refuse the free book I was offering him, but once Juha had finished, we looked silently at one another, and without another word, took the book from my hand, entered back into his apartment and quietly closed the door.

A real faith, living, breathing faith, that speaks of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and a heart of love and compassion towards the Muslim (which they can obviously sense) goes a long way with making an impression. You see, for the Muslim, God is the unknowable one and to have a relationship with God as one would have with one’s own (loving, caring) father is truly an alien concept for them. Yet this is the treasure that we as believers in Jesus Christ, born of God’s Spirit possess!

Another gentleman, an elderly Jamaican man from the church we were attending while conducting missions, was well known among the congregation for bringing Muslims to faith in Christ. We would all be flabbergasted as he would routinely bring a Muslim with him to church, and almost invariably, they would surrender their lives to the LORD!

When we asked him about this, and how he accounted for his success in making these converts to Christ, he replied with a tooth-gaped smile and a wonderful Jamaican accent:

"Beforl I say one wor’ to de Muslim, I say ten tousand wor’ to tha Lawd!”

In other words, this aged saint understood the importance of spiritual warfare and intercessory prayer as preparatory prior to the delivery of the Gospel. He would select a Muslim in the neighborhood, and commence with weeks, sometimes months of prayer and at the time appointed by God, he would be led of the LORD to share the good news!

Any work with the LORD can not know success unless we are engaged with the LORD in prayer!

WITNESSING TO MUSLIMS –
(excerpts taken from Reaching Muslims Today – available from STL Distributors, P.O. Box 48, Bromley, Kent. England
Compiled by North African Mission: pgs. 41 – 42) NOTE: Statements within brackets [ ] are my own.

What To Do –
1) Prepare to witness to them! Study the culture and the way they think! Try to get acquainted with Muslim neighbors and try to understand their point of view.
2) Learn their language; [while such would not be necessary in circumstances we have here in America, a cursory knowledge of basic language would go a long way in reaching hearts] many Muslims today can be reached without a knowledge of Arabic. However a worker considering full time service among Muslims must master the Arabic language.
3) Be open to opportunities to witness [where there is willingness, there are doors opened by Divine Providence!]
4) Love them sincerely [Prayerfully ask God to give you a heart for these people, He will!] and be gentle; they will sense this. Understand that the objective is to win the person, not the discussion [As aptly demonstrated with the story of myself and Juha from Finland]. The goal is not just to defend Christianity but to present Christ.
5) Listen patiently to what they say; you will understand them better. Your turn will come to talk. Muslims must hear many times before they will believe. [Understand also that we Christians are all ‘links in the chain of witness’: the LORD leads Muslims from one Christian to another, and another, and each play their part in sowing the seed of God’s Word, and watering that seed; always however God gives the increase, and yet another Christian will be involved in the harvesting. Seldom is one believer involved in all aspects.]
6) Explain the Gospel very simply, in every day terms, and do not forget to define such words as sin, prayer, Son of God, faith. These often have another meaning to the Muslim.
7) Stress the unique being of Jesus Christ:
a. His miraculous birth and the prophecies concerning His birth, life, death and resurrection. [Over 300 prophecies that foretell the first coming of Christ Jesus; in this, He is unique!]
b. His sinless life and extraordinary teachings.
c. His unique names (the Quran calls Him: the Word of God, a spirit of God)
d. The fact that he is alive in heaven.
e. The fact that Jesus is returning [with even more prophecies regarding His 2nd Coming than the First!]
8) Encourage reading the Bible, especially the Gospels [In Arabic, it’s called the Injil].
9) Share how you found peace and assurance of salvation through Christ [your testimony will have a powerful impact as the Muslim has nothing in their own life to compare with such].
10) Show how they can have a personal relationship with God.
11) Stress the fact that God is absolutely holy and that He demands righteousness, whereas man is unrighteous and is enslaved by his sinful nature. His condition does not need to be made better by education; rather, he needs to be “born again” in order to become a new person [An explanation of what it means to be born again, in basic language will be required].
12) Answer objections with gentleness and kindness; at the same time ask:
a. How do you know that the Gospel is not true? Have you read it?
b. Have you ever studied the Bible for yourself, or are you just repeating without thinking, what others have said about it?
c. How can you know if God has pardoned you? Do you have the assurance of salvation?
d. Do you have eternal life?

What Not To Do –

1) Never attack the person of Mohammad, but do not accept him as a prophet either [Sharing the moral and character failings of the Prophet of Islam with the Muslim will not build bridges, but walls].
2) Do not be misled by their belief in Jesus or the Bible. Normally their belief has a Muslim context and not a Biblical one.
3) Don’t be fooled by the claim that they know all about Christianity; Muslims do mot want to admit their ignorance about true Christianity.
4) Do not speak right away about Jesus being the Son of God; they will not accept this [Its usually best to start out with basic truths about God, with which the Muslim can readily agree: His all knowing, all powerful nature as the Creator of all things, seen and unseen, etc].
5) Do not look for disputes and controversy [even if they do, try to re-direct the conversation towards the Gospel]; they only generate anger. Yet do not avoid them if it is necessary. One must show that the Bible has an answer that is logical and true.
6) Never enter into discussion without knowledge, love, prayer and the necessity for it. Our dependence on prayer and the work of the Holy Spirit cannot be stressed too strongly.

PRESENTING The GOSPEL to a MUSLIM –

The manner in which we receive our friends as people is of primary importance in any witnessing effort. In many cases the person is seeking to solve a problem in his life, We might wish to share how God has met a similar problem in our own life. The Muslim wants a religion that works!
We should avoid sensitive topics, particularly those of a political nature. When they come up, try to redirect the conversation to other areas of personal interest, such as sports, work, family or studies.
In any conversation, you will come to a point which can be used to introduce the issue of God, or personal values and principles. Even more often, the Muslim will ask questions like, “Who are you?” or “Why do you speak Arabic?” [For those who are national workers in the mission field].
In all phases of witness, the “spiritual preparedness” of the one presenting the Gospel is extremely important. IF there is a close walk with God, a fulness of the Spirit, a love for others, a willingness to listen, an expectant spirit, there is almost always an impact. If God is distant to the Christian, He will be dead and wooden to the Muslim.
As the contact matures, the following questions or statements usually arise:
”What is God really like, and what could He want of me?”
“How do you know the Bible is inspired of God?”
”What makes one religion – Islam or another – better or different?”

At this point, if the situation is favorable, use one of these Three Approaches – briefly outlined below.

1) The “WHO IS GOD?” Approach

Stress evidence of His existence
His creation (being distinct from Himself)
His authority
His character
How can He be known? Could He communicate? Did He?
Yes:

a) by General Revelation (the idea of God cannot originate with man)
b) by Scripture
c) by His Son

Does man need help or can it be proven that he is sufficient to meet his dilemma?
What happened: The Fall – Man died spiritually
Became a slave to sin
Under Judgment of a righteous Judge
Explain in detail:

God’s original plan for man (Reason for creation).
His perfection (God’s masterpiece in creation).
The preciousness of the individual.
The fact that he is lost (groping in every area of life – religion, philosophy, pleasure).

God’s Intervention: help had to come from outside of man.
Why God intervened: because of His love for man.
How was this love revealed: by sending His Son – sacrifice and resurrection
Here an explanation of what transpired on the Cross will be essential.
Result: Offer of pardon, Reconciliation, Life [Eternal].

Three steps of Faith:
What is faith? Confidence in another’s character and strength.
Step 1) I know the facts
Step 2) I believe they are true, without error
Step 3) I receive them for myself and act on them – Salvation comes at step 3.

What is the evidence of real faith?
A life that seeks to please and obey God: however, small intial steps.
A desire to further the message of Christ to others.

2) The “DIRECT FROM THE BIBLE” Approach

Go directly to the Bible and examine one passage to try to understand the heart of its message:
Suggested passages:
John 1:1-12John 3: 1-36
Romans 6:23
John 5:24

An example is Romans 6:23, which is often used with good results. It can be developed thus:

Three parts –
“The wages of sin is death”
“but the gift of God is eternal life”
“through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Write out the entire verse so that the Muslim can get the sweep of the passage.

1) Part One –
What is sin? (disobedience to God and His Holy Will)
What does death mean? (seperation – spiritual death, physical death)
Wages are the result of what? (work)
2) Part Two –
What is a gift? (a free present)
Do gifts depend on merit or acheivement? (no)
What is life? (union – eternal life only if united with God’s life)
Would you refuse a King’s gift?
3) Part Three –
How does this gift come to us? (through Jesus Christ)
Who is Jesus Christ – why that name? (The giver of Eternal life; Christ = Messiah)
Is He unique among the prophets? (Yes, the only one to die on behalf of others).

To get the gift we need to receive Christ as: Savior – entrance
Lord – daily implication of ebing a follower of His.
Illustration:
Christ does not want to hitch a fide and take the back seat; He wants the wheel. The point is submission to Christ Jesus.

3) The “STORY TELLER” Approach

Muslims are quite fond of stories, and since the Gospels are full of stories in parable form, any one of these will serve. Take any single parable, and read it through with the Muslim, and then apply the appropriate spiritual lesson which will reveal spiritual truth. Other stories of the Gospels (non-parables) are also powerful, such as the resurrection of Lazarus as recorded in John Ch. 11.

From this chapter’s account we learn that Jesus was very close with Lazarus and his two sisters (vs. 2).
This family was confident of Jesus’s love for them (vs.3, 5).
We learn that Jesus claims to be the Son of God, and that He understands God and the plans He has in store (vs.4, 6-15).
To Jesus, something as seemingly permanent and disastrous as death is as sleep (vs. 11, 14).
Jesus is intent on the glory of God, and to strengthen the faith of His followers (vs. 4, 15).
We learn that the disciples loved Jesus and were committed to Him, even if it meant their own deaths (vs. 16).
We learn that Lazarus was already dead for four days, but that the journey from where Jesus was to Bethany was less than one day’s journey, so He wasn’t hurrying (vs. 6, 17-18)
Martha with urgency left their home and came to Jesus when she learned of His arrival; she was confident that Jesus could have healed her sick brother, but apparently doubts that anything else can be done but holds out with the slightest hope yet (vs. 20-22).
We learn that Jesus claims to be Himself the resurrection and the life, that is He is the Supreme authority of these, and that His power is greater than the power of death itself; that those who believe in Jesus will possess eternal life (vs. 23-26).
Martha confesses that Jesus is the Christ (Messiah) and Jesus doesn’t correct her for any apparent error, thus condones such a proclamation, therefore Jesus is indeed the Messiah (vs. 27).
Martha goes and brings back Mary, whom Jesus calls for, and the Jews follow them to the tomb of Lazarus (vs. 28-31).
Mary makes a comparable confession to her sister, Martha’s regarding Jesus’ authority (vs. 32)
Jesus is grieved, and sorrowful, and expresses His love for Lazarus with his tears (vs. 33-36).
Jesus commands the stone to Lazarus’ tomb be rolled away, even though Martha protests (vs. 39).
Jesus desires to strengthen the faith of Martha and Mary, as well as His own disciples, and is intent on the glory of God being revealed (vs. 40).
Jesus prays to God as His Father, and does so, so that these would know that He was sent by the Father (vs. 41-42).
Jesus commands Lazarus to come forth, and he does; Jesus then commands that Lazarus would be loosed of his grave clothes (vs. 43-44).

From this passage of scripture we learn that Jesus, Who is the Messiah, has the power of eternal life, is greater than the power of death, can command the dead to be raised to life. Jesus is caring and compassionate, and desires to strengthen the faith of His followers. Even though He may allow tragedy into our lives, He does so with purpose in mind, and not in needless sorrow and anguish, and ultimately serves a greater and better purpose that we cannot see for ourselves.

The story method of sharing God’s Truth with the Muslim can be quite effective, particularly in a long term relationship. Sharing such stories not only imparts spiritual truth to the Muslim, but it also strengthens the bond of friendship. The Muslim will become eager to hear more such stories, and will open their hearts more and more.

Answering Islam-A Christian Muslim Dialogue

This concludes this article on ENGAGING ISLAM and The MUSLIM AGENDA. It is our hopes and prayers at T.T.U.F. that we have represented fairly the facts as they are.

While we are facing a time of potentially extreme upheaval and indeed, a likely paradigm shift in our way of life, which will no doubt involve a greater influence of this religion here in America, we must remember to conduct ourselves in any situation, no matter how dire, as true disciples and ambassadors of Christ Jesus (2 Cor. 5:20).

Let us remember that we wrestle not with flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and spiritual wickedness in heavenly places. If our Gospel is hidden from those who cannot see and understand it, it is because the god of this world has blinded their eyes and such spiritual warfare must be conducted in order to relieve them from such blindness and so the glorious Light of the Gospel may touch their lives for the glory of God (2 Cor. 4:4-6)!

May the LORD Jesus truly bless us all as together we seek His Divine Will in reaching the lost of this world, including the Muslim people that He loves so dearly!

The Priority of God's Word

by A.M. Kisly

Hebrews 4:12 (King James Version)

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Time has changed. The quiet days of the past seem all but gone. Our lives have become overwhelmingly busy with too much activity and we wonder how we will be able to balance it all. Balance will only come to those who put first things first. You cannot get very far driving a car with an empty fuel tank, nor will your body be able to function without food and water and rest. Without the daily intake of the Word of God, our spiritual lives become lethargic, weak, and very susceptible to temptations and compromise. The enemy of our soul would have us so busy and distracted as to keep us away from the necessary nourishment of our spirit in order to weaken us in our spiritual walks and thus becoming ineffective in our Christian witness.

The Word of God is a necessity of ones spiritual life....it cannot be ignored. Jesus is the very Word of God...and He who came to earth, died on the cross for our sin, rose again, and is coming again, wants to spend time with each and every one of us. He has things he wants to show us, teach us and reveal to us. He left us His word, The Holy Scriptures, we must take it, feast upon it, and allow Him to instruct us. He will give us clear direction and the needed balance in our lives if we let Him.
